I've heard France's 2nd reserve keeper isn't all that.

Yep, that's it. The only negative I can hold against them. They are dismantling Sweden at will. Stunning.

Sweden are pretty poor tho...

That said at the moment I cannot see anyone bar perhaps Argentina stopping the French. It will be interesting to see what happens when they play better opponents.

Bit tired of the English media talking about their game against Mexico.

Bit tired of the English media in general. They are still talking as though it would be a disaster if an England didn’t win the thing when getting to the quarterfinals would probably represent a good result.

100% - yes we have Harry Kane & Bellingham, but you need more than 2 world class players when you have no defence.

All this talk of we'll be better when we play better opposition is a load of rubbish, better opposition will exploit our defensive weaknesses & nullify our attack due to our lack of creativity.

The prospect of Mexico v England is quite tasty TBF. Obvious England need to beat Congo first, goes without saying. But if they do, I think I'd have Mexico as slight favourites with their massive home advantage and momentum. Almost seems written in the stars for them at this point.

DRC is not a formality by any means, but England should win tonight.

Mexico is a real test TBH; they're good as it is but at their home and at 2200m altitude - there's a reason they have only lost twice in 89 competitive games there (although part of that reason is they don't have many top class opponents, and when they do they draw 😉 )

Well like the Euros 2 years ago, England has successfully avoided some of the tricky teams so Mexico shall ieast least provide a decent test. I expect England to beat Dr. Congo. I think Japan and the Netherlands to be on par with England.

I reckon tonight is going to provide the same thrilling spectacle as the Ghana game, so try and stay awake. There’s a good chance that bus-parking will see it nil nil after 90, same at extra time then penalties.

People thinking this is just a formality and already talking about Mexico are clearly unfamiliar with watching Engerland

Mexico will comfortably beat the winner of the ENG DRC game. Home advantage, 7000ft up, a devoted, long-suffering and massive crowd, heat, etc etc etc

The Final should be at the Azteca given its heritage but alas FIFA / US corruption blah blah something

France potentially a bit dodgy at the back - Upemecano has a howler in him, as does his back up, Konate. I’m clutching at straws though, given how good they are elsewhere. Maybe central midfield as well, Rabiot doesn’t convince me.

Only one European country has previously won the World Cup when held in North/South America.

Bellingham is such a nob head, you could see that yellow card coming from the middle of last week. And now he's got no space to put a bad tackle in.

Kane should be booked for that. What a cheat. Twice he's simulated in this half.

Kanes diving is embarrassing. He should have been carded for that

If we somehow manage to equalise I can't see us getting another - this has got penalties written all over it.

I'm mystified how a joint tournament somehow has all 8 games from QF onwards awarded to 1 country.

The Scouse head coach guy saying how well England are playing whilst the tag line below him is:

"England have never won a WC game after conceding first since 1966"

😆

Stick the knife in!

Just got home from work, had bought some beers, having fish n chips for tea, spitfire landed on the lawn, invited Geoff Hurst and WG Grace for tea, mowed the lawn, had a bath in a giant Yorkshire pudding, turned the telly on.......bollocks.

The arrogance on display this morning on Five Live of already discussing the Mexico game, as if this was already a done deal.

Looks like they could be the third ‘Big’ European team in a few days to go out to ‘lesser’ team because they thought all they had to do was turn up.

While listening to the inexplicable overconfidence this morning on the radio, me and Mrs Binners both stuck a fiver each on a DR Congo win at a frankly daft 14/1, so if it finishes like this…

Went to put a £2 bet on at 16/1 just before kick off, but I ballsed it up and didn't confirm.

Was kind pissed, but now I'm happy it didn't go through.

… at 1am on a Monday morning? No way am I losing sleep to watch Engerland

If they were playing in my back garden at that time I’d ask ‘em to keep the noise down.

Comment of the evening from one of the lads… “Mica Richards looks like an Emoji” 😂

I'll be sleeping in, alarm radio off to avoid the result, then watching it at my leisure - probably at 1.5x to make England look like France or Spain. Retired life has its benefits.

Surely after Scotland had an extra bank holiday after playing in the early hour's of Sunday morning England should be having a day off on Monday? I'm not fussed either but weathers looking good on Monday, an extra day on the trails is never a bad thing
