Can't that Infantino geezer be deposed

While the majority of the national associations(outside Europe) are just as utterly corrupt as FIFA itself, they’ll all vote for Infantino to keep their embezzlement gravy train rolling!

How much of FIFA’s multimillion pound payments do you think make it through to ‘support grassroots football’? And how much do you reckon ends up in Swiss bank accounts via front companies in the Cayman Islands? None of the associations submit accounts. The whole set up is absolutely rotten to the core and corruption is completely endemic, because that’s exactly how it was designed to be.

Well done to UEFA (hardly a model of virtue itself) for telling FIFA (and Trump, who’s balls deep in this!) to **** right off!

I hope this is the end of FIFA and the World Cup.The whole rotten charade has been fully deserving of this for a long time now!

El Infantile offering member associations "cash for a yes vote" is like lying cheating political parties offering "a penny off income tax for a vote" - some people are very easily bought.

An interesting read, pointing out the bleeding obvious. That this whole thing has been cooked up by Infantino and Trump with no consultation with anyone else. Infantino should be finished over this, but he’ll cling on, just like Blatter before him

Wad talking to a couple of Italians and Frenchies prior to the final games about FIFA....

Okay the next world cup across two continents ruling any African or European nation from hosting for the next X years. So it goes to Saudi and then back to the States.

We suggested that European teams should boycott it.

Without Europe playing most of the top teams would be absent.

I really hope it happens.

Henry Winter in the Times made a point this morning that if FIFA expand the competition to 64 teams, as Infantino wants, then there aren’t many countries that could actually host that. There’s one obvious one… America. So the World Cup would just be permanently hosted in the states.

This is all part of what Trump and Infantino have been cooking up between themselves. What a pair of ****s! Hopefully them overstretching themselves will lead to the end of FIFA

Football will be dead, totally unwatchable if those greedy people have a hand in it.

Football won't die or indeed the Premier League - the world cup as a tournament, might go the same way as the the Liv Golf thing and boxing, and splinter.

Quite a fitting legacy of the greedy hand of the Trump era.

It's funny how we went from one country hosting each world cup to (checks notes) three continents? (aren't the first matches being played in South America?).

Taking a wild tangent here but it really depresses me how 'the show must go on' in the face of what appears to be a legitimate climate crisis. Most of Europe on fire? yeah, but we need to shuttle 64 football teams, their retinues and fans across three continents for a football tournament... (see also, Tour de France these days 🙄)

Infantino had indicated the proposals would need a straight majority to go through - meaning 106 of its 211 members to vote in favour for the proposal.

Uefa - the body that governs European football - has 55 votes. Concacaf, which oversees football in North, Central America and the Caribbean, has 35 and Asia has 46.

Sounds like it's dead in the water now, with UEFA, CONACAF & Asia all against it.

Shame... Was hoping for a big fiasco. Would at least be a distraction from all the other shit going on in the world.
