Many years ago we did the drive over the Grand St Bernard Pass whilst playing that Matt Munro tune on the Stereo. We were 3 pasty brit blokes and a girl in a hired Renault Megane Senic tho, not a coolio iti in a 60s Lambo Miura.

Saving Private Ryan is the best intro ever.

The opening credits of Watchmen are outstanding.

Think Layer Cake might be the best opening.

Did you know that they ran out of money filming the Italian job so the ending we all know and love was not the intended ending

Apparently it was meant to end with the bloke putting the money in a numbered account and as he went to tell the other guys the numbers he was shot

Don't know about the best start but definitely one of the best accidental endings

Good opening scene. Rest of the film, not actually any good.

Funnily enough it's just been voted the greatest film of all time - personally i think goodfellas would be a better candidate

I much prefer the newer version of The Italian Job to the old one.

Did anyone else know that Quincy Jones wrote the score? Found out a few weeks ago, to my amazement!

I love the beginning of it, and play "on days like these" when in the Alps an awful lot..
You are always going to get shot down on here for saying "the best beginning ever" but personally I share your enthusiasm.

It is a classic. Definatly one of the best opening scenes and one of the best chase sequences too.

I cannot understand why anyone wouldnt like the film, its a classic 60's British crime caper, with arguably the best car chase scenes going. For me it is the Italian Job, then The Bourne Identity(another mini) and then Bullit.

Equipe Remy Julienne the most amazing things with those little cars! Saying that they also do the same things in any other car they drive come to think about it.

The remake stunk to high Heaven!
