A bit late now but what about Benedict Cumberbatch as doctor?

Will he be a Scottish Doctor, or will he do what Tenth did and put on an English accent? IIRC, that was Tennant's decision rather than a mandate from on high.

Yeah, but what English accent? Geordie? Sarf London? <shudders>Yorkshire</shudders>

I've thought of him doing it as ideal, but there's no way he could commit these days, what with Sherlock and Hollywood movies like Star Trek. Pity, he'd be a pretty scary Doctor.

I reckon Paul Simm would have made a brilliant doctor. Ah well. Now if they could afford Robert Downie Jr...

[quote=wikipedia] David Tennant told SFX magazine in 2006 that Russell T Davies had asked him to drop his natural Scottish accent, because he felt "we'd like to not go for another obvious regional accent, because I suppose they'd done that"

doesnt matter who the new Dr is , its the storylines that count, some have been pretty dire in the new series.

i do wonder what the BBC thinks it is, 30min show and the BBC news full of it....its getting so USA these days

Funny, I thought the last series was the best for a while.
Got a bit sick of these overarching, intertwining plot lines, River Song, and the whole multiple timeline bollocks.

Nice to have a few stand alone, half hour, period shockers.
And the Crimson Horror had Madame Vastra, Jenny, Clara and the stunning Rachael Stirling in it.
Spot on.
