I needed to get into the garage to do some work. My folks old Corniche has been laid up in there for the best part of a couple of years. I cleaned up the points on the SU fuel pumps and distributor. Put some new fuel in the tank and it started n nnnnn neee neeearly first turn of the key.

Feeling well chuffed with my DIY mechanical skills ๐Ÿ˜€

It's a propper Roller. Propper Engineering. None of this modern German crap! ๐Ÿ™‚

Well done though, now get it legal and go for a drive!

Its got a huge tank, it needs it, 8-10mpg - 6.750cc V8

The engineering is really old school. No fly by wire, just beautiful rods and spring tensioned links. Most of the important stuff is on top of the engine so you can easily get at it. Its 35 years old, I cant imagine a home mechanic having a hope of repairing a current Phantom in 35 years time.

The new one is an amazingly capable car but this one is a classic and needs to be cherished, hope its kept on the road. Is it a 2 door or 4 door, the corniche was usually a drophead.

Its a two door. The roofline is much lower than the four door and the tail is angled. Its a much prettier car. I've had a look at whats on sale just now, I figure its worth a bit, probably close to what my folks paid for it in the mid nineties. Its only done 70k miles, and has a near complete RR specialist service history.

Or I could go and do the Paris Dakar in comfort.

My corsa c, circa 2000(136,000 on the clock) has been off the road for a week with a flat bat. Got new bat on saturday and it started first time. A joyful sound as all three cylinders sparked up!!!
