Was trolling the net and came across this beaut:

A certain Mr.Cook seems to have taken a liking to the last minute or so and used it on a popular beat combo record called "right here, right now".

Apart from the obvious early 70's style vocals there's some spectacular choonage.

Mrs BigJohn & I saw them in October 1970 at Trentham Gardens when they were the support band for The Who. We were blown away by them, but they disappeared from sight and we never heard them again.

Heard of them? Yup. Joe Walsh went onto The Eagles, amongst other things.

I heard a radio documentary years ago that talked about all the old records that FBS had sampled for that record. Very interesting, loads of old & obscure records. All the samples were above board, all royalties paid etc. They mentioned specifically the singer who was sampled on "Praise You" (I think) who suddenly got a massive windfall as the royalties from that far exceeded all the record sales she'd ever had previously so I guess she was more than happy with FBS using the vocal!

Yep, heard of them, and prior to this thread knew three things about them: Joe Walsh, Funk49 and that sample.

I had high hopes that this thread was gonna give me more, to be honest.

zilog - I've got a long playlist at home made entirely of tracks FBS sampled. If you want to check one out, make it "I Can't Write Left Handed" by Bill Withers (as sampled on "Demons") - beautiful song. Make sure it's the version with the spoken-over intro.

Think Rocky Mountain Way was JW solo (could be wrong though)

Another fan of Joe Walsh here. As others have said, James Gang came before Joe Walsh did some Eagles stuff and then Joe Walsh had a self named band which released The Smoker you Drink The Player you Get which was a classic 70s album 8) I have one James Gang album at home which I can't remember the name of (and which may get an airing tonight thanks to this thread).
Hey BigJohn - James Gang and The Who at one sitting. Nice ๐Ÿ™‚

Sky arts recently done a doc on Deke Leonard, really talented guy and highly regarded by most of the top guitarists around today. I had a chance to buy a mikey jones guitar being sold by his son for the local charity, I missed out by 1 bid and not paying attention..... Gutted.

Seen MAN more times than I can remember, I have all of their albums on vinyl. Funny really as I now have no record player!
