So by not punishing England properly you are giving a green light to people doing this again and teaching that cheats win? 🙂

So by the same reasoning a single cyclist jumps a red light and we should all be fined?

And as said - 2-0 down, just shine a laser at one of your own players, blame the other team, sorted.

Needs work, that idea.

Email from said lad's school .... School gates will be opened again at 10:30 on Monday for those that have stayed up to watch the football and your child will not be marked late.

Top fella the head teacher, strong cyclist too

This may be of interest to someone

A friend has 2 tickets in a corporate box for the England v Italy game on Sunday.

He paid £2,750 each, but he didn't realise when he bought them months ago that it was going to be the same day as his wedding!

If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place.

It's at Leeds Registry Office, at 5pm. Her name is Sarah.  She's 5'5", brunette, size 10, quite pretty, has her own income and is a really good cook!

UEFA has opened an investigation, into the laser and the booing if the national anthem. They will issue a fine, as usual. They did try to find the person with the laser but failed

To be fair, if you are going to start banning teams from tournaments because of the fans, you might want to start with central and south america, where fans vomit and urinate into bags and dump it on the players as they come out of the tunnel. Or laundh it at them while they are playing.

giving a green light to people doing this again and teaching that cheats win

That's every game that Italy/Brazil/Argentina win.

Oh, so close. I thought you were talking about Louise. I'd have been there like a shot.

The laser so badly affected Kasper Schmeical that he actually saved the penno? 🤷

It was probably his Dad. Denmark is only big enough for one King Schmeicel. Backfired.

Wonder who’d win goalie top trumps in Peter and Kasper. My overriding memory of Peter is the bloke next to me in the away end at a 90s cup match at OT, shouts “Oi Schmeichel <pause>, fish shagger” 🤣

A great article in today’s Guardian by Marina Hyde, who’s a great sports writer herself, about politicians and football

We can’t keep politics out of sport, but please keep politicians out of football

Did you see the prime minister in the fancy seats at Wembley on Wednesday? He seemed to have come dressed as a particularly brutal Matt Lucas impersonation of himself. As for the young lady standing to his left and smiling indulgently at him, it’s nice that his … carer, is it? … takes him out for the day and buys him a football top.

I'm predicting a snap GE in the event of an English win.

Brexit - Done

Covid - Done

World Cup - Done.

And? Do you honestly think the people that voted for Boris and Brexit will know or care

It does seem that the people getting most excited about tomorrow night are people who’ve never previously expressed any interest in football.

That's cos the rest of of knows it's 90 minutes, maybe 120 minutes of cowering behind furniture and trying not to be sick.

I'm remarkably unworked up about tomorrow. I couldn't sleep the night before the semi, but I like being underdogs, the feeling of being in a final, I love Italy and have some good Italian friends..... it might all change before the game but for now just looking forward to it.

Things I'd like to see tomorrow.

No controversies; no red cards or dodgy penalties or VAR close ones. Anthems respected. A game won by a moment of skill or brilliance, not a mistake or a deflected OG. Pickford looking like he's spent the last three days in a Buddhist retreat.

Things I'd love to see but won't.

Boris looking shame faced while the players take a knee. Prince William just looking at him and slowly shaking his head while Kate makes the Nescafe gesture. The whole crowd singing 'Where were you, where were you, where were you when we were s**t' at the massed ranks of the cabinet in the VIP seats. Pickford looking like he's spent the last three days in a Buddhist retreat.

Given that England has a higher covid rate than India, largely attributed to Euro 2020, and UEFA blackmailed the UK into granting 2500 members of the FIFA family the same quarantine etc exemption as the athletes, by threatening to give Hungary the final if they didn't and the media team embedded with the Italians have got Covid, I don't think Kate would make a whole lot of difference, frankly.

If she's still isolating it was a very convincing lookalike handing over the trophy at the ladies singles today.

She'll have been sad to miss yesterday though, apparently she loves watching the men's semis.

I've watched bits of Euros 2020, but I've discovered football does very little for me these days, I used to religiously watch MOTD and tournaments until a few years ago. I used to dream of England reaching a final in my lifetime, but now it's of no real interest, maybe five(?) home games so far and how it's blatently spreading Delta at Wembley / pubs / private homes has taken more than the edge off it for me.

I'm more of the view that the Euros is the icing on the cake, rather than the main cause.

I'm no expert but them as claim to be seem pretty convinced, largely due to the timing I suppose, that the Euros are driving current numbers. Not simply the crowds at games but everywhere else, pubs, houses, streets etc. Not a lot of masks or distancing going on.

Recorded Covid rate. Not Covid rate. Testing rates in the UK are massively higher than India. And in India only hospital deaths are being recorded - just think of the countless millions in poverty and / or in rural locations with little or no access to healthcare. There have been many reports of bodies being given ‘burials’ in the Ganges and those deaths aren’t being reliably recorded.

Recorded Covid rate

Well yeah. If it isn't recorded how do you know if it happened. It's as theoretical as Morata scoring.

Both places have been testing over a million per day. That's a lower proportion of Indias population but a far bigger sample than is necessary to be statistically significant. I'm willing to bet the testing rate in rural India is no worse than the most deprived areas of england. Which are often in cities. Which itself should be a source of shame.

Burials in the Ganges are quite normal. Not supposed to happen but. Visit a river near a Sikh community and you'll find ashes at the very least.

Either way, recorded cases are up a lot since the Euros started. Let's hope it doesn't last.

Trippier in for Saka apparently, so 3-5-2. Wondering if Mount will play well, he’s not quite clicked yet. England to sit in and hit Italy on the break?

0 - 0, Italy win easily on pens, and the most spectacular anti-climax in history. 😄

2-1 in extra time. Probably to the Italians, but could possibly be our night. Southgate seems to have judged it right against each team in the tournament so far

1-1 after full time, 2-2 AET, Italy to win 11-10 on penalties while I am reduced to a nervous wreck curled up and jibbering in the corner of my living room.

I do think we stand more than a punchers chance, it is closer than the doom mongers predict, but Italy should deservedly be favourites.

I don't think we have seen the best of the England team*, I think there is more in them than Southgate's tactics have allowed, and that probably means it won't change tonight. Italy however I think have been operating at their top level and don't have another gear to go up.

*however I think there is a psychological barrier to get over, and if we can get over the line tonight maybe we can look forward to more expressive football in the future.

I'm expecting a solid England performance but Italy will burst our bubble at some point, probably a fast flowing move on the counter after a patient 637 pass buildup from England.

More than anything, whoever wins I hope its through something creative and skillful rather than an individual mistake.

I think the result is probably too close to call. I've got a funny feeling Chiellini will have some sledging/psyching lined up for immediate pre-match period.

0-0 after 90 minutes. 1-0 to Italy after extra time

However, if you want a proper prediction I’ll ask my darling wife
