Not picky enough by the looks of it.
Lol. I'm old enough to have enjoyed Batman in the 60's and Tim Burton did them with the same kind of humour
No, Burton got a lot of flack at the time for NOT going down the light-and-campy sixties tv route, but doing something (relatively) darker - it was Shumacher who introduced a bit more "holy rusting metal batman" to the franchise

This is true - but watching again now the Tim Buton Batman films seem pretty camp, especially when compared to the recent ones.
Having said that I still really like Batman Returns.
TDKR was kind of good, I think. I liked bits of it, but of the whole trilogy the second one is the best by quite a large margin
Tim Burton took Frank Millers 'The Dark Knight Returns' graphic novel and used it as the foundation for his interpretation of Batman(Dark and gothic)and removed it from the campy, 60's version.
Joel Schumacher returned it to it's campy roots with Batman Forever and the horrible Batman and Robin. Thankfully Nolan looked again at 'The Dark Knight Returns' for his inspiration but also wanted to put Batman in the 'real' world.
I think this trilogy has really captured the essence of Batman and I thought this third one was a perfect finale to the series.
I think the problem is that The Dark Knight was SO good, that anything Nolan did with TDKR had to be either as good or better than TDK or face it being called a 'flop' by various critics (and forum readers....).
Personally, whilst it wasn't as good as TDK, I still think that in the grand scheme of things it was a great film. The best part of 3 hours really didn't seem like the best part of 3-hours - you just got engrossed in what was going on. Unlike some, I actually thought the middle bit with essentially no Batman in it, was one of the strongest parts. At some points, there really was a 'how in hell are they going to get out of this' feeling when Bane really took control of Gotham. The ending maybe let it down a little, but still good and some quite clever bits there as well (some sequel bait, although I would doubt if there will be one...). So yeah, probably a good 8.5-9/10 for me. Watching it in IMAX was ace as well!
I for one loved it. Shame Nolan and Bale said they won't do another one. 🙁
dont think heath as the joker was over-acted at all, he played chaos and mental illness in a way that made me feel like i wasn't watching an actor play a role. 🙂

Quit while he's ahead... I think Nolan has potential to be one of the great directors.
EDIT - There's only one film I've not seen of his & I have enjoyed everything I've seen.
Visually, technically, imaginatively he is amazing. I just wish he'd stop relying on exposition so much. TDKR was pretty bad for this, Inception is just full of actors talking to each other explaining everything
Show, don't tell Chris
Inception is just full of actors talking to each other explaining everything
To be fair - even with all that explanation a fair few people had no idea what was going on.
As much as I enjoy his big budget popcorn pics like the Batman trilogy I still think the relatively small claustrophobic Memento is my favourite film of his.
I saw it with my 9 year old son and his friend today and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
The visuals and sound effects were great and as for the more detailed story and other stuff like that, well, to be honest, I just went to be entertained by a summer blockbuster 🙂
Not seen it yet, but Tookey in The Mail gave it two stars, so it's got to be worth seeing, and the bloke from Empire really rated it on LaLa's 6Music show, so that clinches it for me. I'll accept a review from people who don't have an agenda, but not the likes of Tookey.
I saw it today with my son and thought it a good movie. Not a disappointment like another recent film. TDKR is quite long however the film was absorbing enough to make the time pass fine. My only difficulty is accepting Christian Bale as not being that nice little lad from Empire of The Sun.
The incredibly talented and charming Daniela Denby-Ashe would have been perfect for the role of Catwoman. Daniela gave compelling performance in Tourchwood, and North and south. Kate Winslet got recognized after sense and sensibility. Daniela is more charming than these Hollywood actresses. The fact is Daniela Denby-Ashe can act variety of roles. She can express emotions without speaking. whereas Anna Kathaway has one facial expression. Daniela Denby Ashe is the most underrated actress in British film society and also in the Hollywood. Hopefully, Steven Spielberg and David Cameron will recognize the talent of this talented actress - Anne, Canberra, Australia
An amazing comment from the Daily Mail site - just checked out Tookey's review, it sounds like he wants to like it but spends the review slagging it off before awarding it 2 stars...
Well I enjoyed it. Not as good as the Dark Knight, but to be fair that was a tough one to follow IMHO. First time in a long while i have left the cinema fully entertained.
Nolans genius is that he doesn't patronise his audience. His 'blockbusters' are smart (inception, Batman trilogy). He assumes that his audience are as smart as he is. More of the same please.
Watched it yesterday on Brum Giant screen, 3 hours of awesome-ness, we could quite happily have gone to watch it again straight away & still may...
Great movie which did not feel like a 2h 40m film
Very dark, very loud and the baddie is ace - but sounds silly!
Catwoman was also very very good 😀
I enjoyed it, don't think Ledger hammed it up. This is where his performance came from:
Finally watched it on Sunday. It was about as dark as one of trout's lights. Overall, pretty disappointed. Worst of Nolan's efforts.
I loved it 🙂 That is all.
