If you're not celebrating, what do you have planned instead?

I shall mostly be riding my bike hopefully

there is a chance I will be called i to work then I will take it as its very lucrative.

Perhaps all the non celebrators should meet up for a mass ride?

Off to a cottage in fowey, devon with the Family (which has a lovely hot tub, sauna, log burner). No christmas presents, no tedious queues,

The reason we've effectively cancelled christmas this year is because i lost my father to cancer in march and we just couldn't face the 1st christmas without him in the house.

Oh, Christmas, I thought you meant another word!

I celebrate it as part of the Yule Feast - love all of it from the spiritual/thanksgiving part to the new bike parts/food/drink. Time off work to hang with the dog/ride my bikes - what's not to love?

I'm going to the firm's christmas party this year - sitting with some very amusing people - should be a brilliant craik.

People are generally nicer, even drivers seem to be more patient, it's a good vibe and I love the lights, especially those icicle ones.

I'll be returning to work on 20th December after spending two and a half weeks in the Amazon rainforest drinking ayahuasca, I leave on Weds. Christmas and New Year will just be normal weekends after that lot. Probably won't get chance to ride Christmas day 'cause I'll have to be round my brothers but will be up for a ride Boxing day... providing I can get out of bed early enough to meet anyone !

I'm properly looking forward to it this year, despite the distinct possibility I could be spending it in the company of some disgruntled Frenchies off the Congolese coast.
It's the run up, more than anything. I got back into brass banding recently (much to the disgust of flyingfoxbikes) and I can't wait for all the trudging round wrapped up to the nines playing C******** carols to all and sundry, then a spot at the old folks' home, complete with my own body weight in mince pies and a hogshead of sherry.

Bliss.

Working a long day Christmas Day (albeit with a lovely bunch of nurses), so missing out on the Noteeth clan festive bash.

Bit sad about that, tbh.

I dont think so! The standard of driving plummets in the run up to christmas every year.

Yes, I could be up for that, as long as it's not too far away from me. Can I wear a Christmas hat?

Plus I re-built my bike after converting from singlespeed to SA 3 speed for crawling through the mud on my hardtail.

TrickyDisco - you might want to check a map before you head to Fowey as the last time I looked it was in Cornwall, not Devon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Who says I'm down? Just don't want to be part of the nonsense.

Not looking for criticism but don't believe I'm the only person that feels this way.

phil - pp belongs to an exclusive group. I'll even introduce you to one next Sunday. ๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas is a bit overrated I think although I do enjoy the time with my family as it is sadly the only time we make the effort to see eachother sometimes but I see where C_G is coming from. I don't like the commercial "buy everything/eat & drink yourself into oblivion" side of it

Oh yes! Come along to the Forum Ride and I'll [s]maybe[/s] spill the beans. ๐Ÿ™‚

Naturellement admission is by personal recommendation only. ๐Ÿ˜‰

edit: I believe that a suede jacket may be acceptable attire.

One of the few times the whole family get together so that bit is nice, it's just all the rest of the nonsense.

For a few years now presents are only bought for the nephew/nieces and a small value item between myself and Herself. That is much nicer and a lot less hassle.

I think there's going to a vegan mountain bike ride on the Malverns on December 25th. If so, I'll be there.

I couldn't turn it down, working both Christmas & New Year this year [from home] for almost an extra month's salary in compensation

Off with the family to Tennerife on the 4th Jan to spend it & use up the extra holiday I'll accrue ๐Ÿ™‚

I've got a good bunch of mates (male and female) who don't do Christmas, so this year 8 of us have booked a cottage on the slopes of the Old Man of Coniston (5 mins walk to the village, 100yds from the Sun Inn) for 23rd-30th. We definitely won't be doing Christmas at all, but still drinking and eating lots (and going out on bikes and walks). Nearly all my family live abroad or do other things, so I'm quite fortunate I've got bah-humbug friends

Fingers crossed ...

Last year was the first time in 51 years I got to spend Xmas day on my own chillin and it was

GREAT

Went round to the folks for an hour in the evening and got the full bah humbug treatment cos I can't see what the fuss is all about ๐Ÿ™ ........

This year hopefully will be a repeat of the chillin out but I think I'll pass on the visiting till later in the week....

Me & the wife are going to lock ourselves away, no family or inlaws.
Champagne for breakfast, lots of good food and just the two of us.

(and hopefully Hope M4s & XT mechs...)

Family christmases were always stressful, a group of people forced together for the tradition not because they like each other, recipe for disaster. Best off out of it!
