Bearing in mind this cost around a fiver, that is a very silly suggestion.
Are you an engineer by chance? If you were IT and said take the batteries out... hang on......

Well theres a key type thing on the display and every button pressed gets the same beep. Phone says no.

complete guess... try pressing and holding down the hash key, and if that don't work do it with the star key..
