[Closed] Tell me your discectomy stories.....what about fusion ??

In September 2008 I had a discectomy on my L5-S1 disc. Everything has been great until this spring time when I started to get lower back pain again. A few weeks back it got really bad so I got referred privately.
Anyway, scan this week showed the disc has prolapsed again meaning a second operation next week. The surgeon mentioned fusion and said that this would be choice should it happen again.

So anybody out there had a second discectomy ? If so did you have any problems ?
Fusion - again what have you had done and what issues, if any, have you had ?
