Some classic track, remixed and given a "good beat". What's the best/worst you've heard?

I actually quite like this. I'm sure there's a "White Wedding" mix out there (if anyone's found/heard it, please let me know!

That's awful, as is every attempt to make a "dance" version of a rock track. 😕

If you want to talk about decent techno remix work then I give you the genius that is Carl Craig.

Taking this:

as is every attempt to make a "dance" version of a rock track

There's a long tradition of 12" and re-edits though - (Larry Levan re-mixed The Clash!)

Not exactly a "dance" mix, but I love this:

Bush Running Up That Hill - a Balearic classic. Although I wasn't there, of course. 😀

Although I've always been rather fond of a bit of [url=

Flashin Fowlkes too.

It scares me when I think how many hours and how much money I spent in record shops looking for decent imports.

It's strings of life, before I even click it. I know. 😀

Although Voodoo Ray is up there too (if not a bit acid-ey)

Hmm what else. Slam "Positive Education" or Humanoid by Stakker. Mid 80's I was more into the Electro mix tapes.

Pretty much my favourite techno record, ever. Sounds like broken-hearted machinery.

aphex_2k - If you really like your Detroit Techno played well you'd have really enjoyed the club I was at in Detroit last month where [url=

Thread has gone a little off topic but hey, what the hell. Saturday nights can be a bit nostalgic can't they, when you're sitting in! (It's 10pm here. Had a drunken Friday night and my housemate's gone to a trance night).

Keep it up fellas. Enjoying the trip down memory lane. fnar.

Possibly one of my all time favourite tracks. Still sends the chills down my neck.

[url=

few absolute classic house tunes.

To be honest, in the early days it was house or Detroit Techno dependent on which city it was produced in rather than any huge differences in music style.

Its all good.

Seeing as this thread is now stubbling about like a ket head trying to find something to dribble against here's a little music fact for ya.

The song 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit by Fedde Le Grand isn't played at home games of any of the Detroit sports teams.

Oh and its not techno, but Bob loves [url=

Yeah Fedde aint techno. Breaks/House ish. Didn't some hippity hop group bust some lyrics over it? He's actually quite a good DJ live but not way an entertainer as some. Far too many people rock up with a laptop and mp3's. I like seeing people play records and play the crowd. Lab4 for example. DJ Proteus.

My 5 y/o God Daughter did "big fish" and I was amazed. When she told me Bob the Builder does it I was even more amazed. I'm guessing some frustrated ex-raver animator thought "why the **** not?".

I'll watch that docco some other time. Looks interesting.

I'm off to watch episode 3 of Shooting Stars. I need to recharge my comedy batteries. Ozzies just dont have the sense of humour I do!

Oh, I read the thread title as Tesco remixes and thought WTF, but listening to the link on the original post I think Tesco could have done a better job.

I'll probably upset the real dance fans by mentioning Pendulum, but though their remix of Master of Puppets by Metallica was pretty flat, the version they do now is pretty brilliant... It's taken them years to actually learn to play it mind (on the plus side, their drummer's better than Lars Ulrich)
