The skip outside the garage is nearly full. Time to start thinking about shelving / racking and a workbench. Is the stuff from Big Dug worth having or is it cheap tat that I'll regret?

Workbench will be for bike fettling and general DIY bodging - no cabinet making for me (that's my brother in law).

Workbench = cheapest B&Q kitchen worktop

I had a mate make me some custom shelves out of 2"x2", just battoned to wall as uprights then angles cut for supports to the horizontals which supported the mdf (some kinda outdoor mdf) shelf

No pics I'm afraid as i've since moved house (i took the shelving with me and just need to build it a garage)

had a quick look at big dug - seems to have every market cornered

the value stuff looks .....cheap

their normal stuff looks like the same stuff we use in work and its solid stuff

i cant tell you if they are good value or not though !

Ive always built my workbenches out of battons and ply they work fine and are infinately cheaper even if you dont have the needed tools (a saw and a hammer ;))

I bought some of that big dug stuff last year as I was in rented and wanted something that flat packed for ease of transport. I just got the "basic" stuff not the professional range and it all appeared a bit flimsy when it arrived, but one it's built up it is much more stable. I wouldn't be using it for heavy stuff, but for boxes of bike stuff and various storage it is absolutely fine.
