Does anyone make their own on here? I moved to a house with a few garden apple trees and have spent the last 7 years learning how to make a decent drop. The main issue is you only have one time a year to practise but I'm pretty pleased with this year's. To compensate for the lack of cider apple varieties (and before my three Dabinett trees start yielding fully) I've learned how to store and macerate the apples to keep acidity low and to rack multiple times to leave as much residual sugar as possible (you can achieve this if your apple trees are old and low in nutrients). Always letting wild yeasts do their thing (albeit with a low does of sulphite at the start) brings the best results too.
Very refreshing after today's ride.

Know a thing or two. Have assisted friends in the making of local single varietal and blended ciders and perrys. Some commercial.
What passes as ‘cider’ from the regular shops and pubs these days is shocking! Like some kind of apple-flavoured lager, all bubbles and bolx.
See also all the big brand chocolate nowadays. Like some kind of chocolate-flavoured set vegetable fat and sugar.
Anyway. Rant over!
Gwatkins or Malvern Gold, chilled, not too cold. That’ll do more than nicely.
Local cheese, crusty bread and chutney on the side 🙂

Fully agree, but sometimes cheap shite just hits the spot . 😁😊
Cheers all 😁

😎👍🏼
Its more beer, jumper and fire pit weather here, but not complaining.
I've just got back after 4 hours out on the hybrid around the villages below the Ridgeway. Golly that was fun and only 3 pints of weak but cold lager on the route.
I'll walk to the next village for a couple of Abingdon Bridges around 8:30. Ham and cheese omelette with peas first though.
Did I mention its my 58th birthday today, it go a little messy 😁
