Spending the weekend in Ullswater (rain permitting) and Sunday, after a run on the fells we hope to enjoy the culinary delights of a local hostelry!
Does anyone have any recomendations for simple grub, (nothing pretentious) and a nice pint?

Sun Inn at Pooley Bridge should fit the bill if you're at that end of the lake. Worth avoiding the other 2 pubs in the village as they're both rank.

Brothers Water Inn up the road at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass. Superb food.
