Well that warms the cockles and made it a bit dusty.
Hi Dave, that is really nice to see 😊
Good on you.
Catch up for another ride in 2026 💪
Definitely Nic. I reckon I'll be fit enough for my first short ride in just a week or two.
I was reminded just before Christmas of the importance (in my view!) of shopping locally or actually using a physical business. My 35 year old Landrover had developed a high pitched whistle/scream at higher revs and the waste gate was rattling at low speeds. All the internet knowledge pointed to a failed turbo but there wasn’t the usual smoking, I very nearly ordered a new turbo at £700 plus.
However, I went to my local independent Landrover garage and parts supplier and described the symptoms, straight away he said “it’ll be a failed manifold gasket”. Sure enough, on my later inspection nearly all the manifold studs and nuts were loose or missing, how it still gave almost normal power is a mystery. £13 later and a full day of (my) labour it was sorted.
I am really pleased that I have built a good relationship up with Neil, the parts man, over the years - they’re not the cheapest but he knows that if I ask for advice then I’ll not go internet shopping but but from them.
Personal connections count!
To uplift on a Sunday morning, hopefully!
