Radio, streaming, MP3, CD, vinyl.
Mostly streaming, although the echo dot has had a lot more use while I’ve been wfh, 6 music and Kerrang radio while Maryanne Hobbs is on.
I’ve still got all my CDs though and will keep buying them on occasion, I bought an Ataris CD of the singer when my band supported him last autumn, although it’s still got the wrapper on and I’ve listened to it loads on Spotify. Still, bought him some lunch for the next day and that’s what it’s all about eh.
Any of you streamers gone Hi-res? Quobuz etc.
I use Tidal and vinyl. Was vinyl only and never bought a CD player as I didn’t like the sound much.
Got into streaming a few years ago but only lo-res, when it started to match the engagement of vinyl I upgraded my old but good pre/power and cheap DAC to an all in one system (Naim Unitiqute 2) which has an app that integrates well with Tidal.
Bit of radio but that’s just background noise.
80% stream, 5% vinyl 15% FM radio.
Streaming 100%. Use iphone to stream Spotify to the 1 Sonos play1 I have left after the wife took the other when we split a few weeks back! Have decided to now replace the wife with a 'proper'ish hifi and have just ordered amp/speakers and a network receiver. Interested in anyone's views of using hi-res providers rather than Spotify - Tidal/Quobuz anyone?
Streaming
YouTube
MP3
CD
Radio
In approximately that order.
I also have a large vinyl collection, but no turntable at the moment.
Streaming and subscription downloading from Play Music
Radio
CDs occasionally and I do still own some vinyl
Working from home I listen to a lot more music during the day but either my hearing has got a lot worse in the last 12 weeks or I'm noticing the lower quality of streamed vs. CDs.
I'm contemplating a CD player, amp and a turntable (plus speakers obvs).
Streaming, vinyl and downloads. Streaming pays almost nothing to small artists so I'll buy downloads or vinyl direct if I can. Streaming is great for listening to new stuff though
CD, radio, iTunes in the car.
Radio / radio app at home.
Not a fan of Spotify etc due to the minimal royalties paid to artists, and yes that includes me
CD
Cassette
Streaming
Mp3
All via hifi amp.
You tube for checking stuff out.cds for listening.sometimes youtube.buy alot of my cds from charity shops.
I thought so too at first. I was a diving instructor in Thailand for a decade, then did similar work in Australia.
It required me to move around a lot, and I was often living in beach huts or similar.I now have thousands of e-books on my iPad. All my music is on my phone ask I have instant access to thousands more songs. I keep all my movies on a hard drive which I can transfer to my iPad when needed.
It seems kind of pointless owning these things in a physical sense, even now that I’m back in the UK. The one exception I make is games for my PS4 – I still like to keep a hard copy of those.
@easily fair enough, that makes sense. Sure, books and CDs/vinyl can take up valuable space at home but personally I would never give these up, not least cos my books tend to have pics and graphs therefore useless on some kind of e-reader.
Vinyl mainly - living room/dining room
Spotify when in kitchen
CD/streaming in study
But mainly vinyl...
Vast majority is streaming with some radio thrown in occasionally. Listen to a lot of podcasts so streaming is the way for those. Still buy the occasional CD as some of my musical tastes don't really work as single tracks, you need to listen to the album as a whole and CD works best for that. Although the only working CD player I own is in the car!
