It was stanfree. Was lucky enough to go to this when I was 20. Most electric atmosphere at a gig I ever attended. Still have the ticket stub £17.50.

Lucky guy athgray , Ive mates that were there . For me they were the greatest , Part punk rich boys but without them we might have not had Public Enemy. Only Bowies passing affected me more than MCA. Those guys were awesome.

Already been mentioned a couple of times, but can't get too much of Pip - first one probably NSFW).

Always had a soft spot for this too (doesn't hurt that it features THE absolute best voice in pop ever).

Both of these guys have been floating around the UK hip hop scene for ages, but I love this old-skool-ness:

One of the most irritating songs ever! Hate everything about it.

This is my sort of mellow/chill hip hop

New Busdriver. Still trying to get over the jazzyness of it, but the album is cool

Wonderful Flying Lotus video with superb bit of Kendrick Lamarr

My big mix from last year is still on mixcloud - https://www.mixcloud.com/dezb99/big-mix-the-state-of-hip-hop/

Also listening to a lot of High Focus stuff at the moment, The Four Owls in particular.

Two old favourites, Task Force and Braintax.

Not necessarily my favourite, but I'd like it not to be forgotten:

Which takes me back to:

Remember seeing them at the Cambridge Junction, supporting Therapy?

Krafty Kuts and A.Skillz at Secret Garden Party was probably the best set I have ever heard.

Old, but utter hip hop jazz-funk filth. Over 40 obscenities in there. You have been warned.

Not a genre I've dabbled in much, but I think I recall this one from my clubbing days from Ikon down in Southampton, not long after it opened in '97.

Does this below classic count?

Some great tunes there. I'd forgotten about IAM and Solaar.

More Kool G Rap, this time with James Lavelle:

Herbaliser featuring Blade:

Dinosaur Jr and Del the Funky Homosapien (live):
