Touched on above, but there's a bitumen pavement near me with lots of the old detachable ring pulls stiff embedded in it, I think they come out every now and then like fossils from an eroded cliff.

Remember there used to be charity drives to collect them? - Blue Peter did it and a few others. I remember when I was a cub scout kids having long strings of them that they'd collected. Strange that we were collecting the ring pulls for recycling value and not the cans.

A few years back I was digging at the unrulier end of the garden of my old house in the highlands and uncovered a buried black plastic bin liner. I half expected it to be a corpse but a bit more digging revealed it was on of 3 bin bags full of ring pulls.
