Always liked his commentaries - the Sid Wadell of footy and a teatime TV fixture of my childhood.

Also pioneered the 'Celebrity trolley dash', later taken up with enthusiasm by Richard Madeley........

I remember when the BBC took him off the north west news. Matryns on here reliably I formed me it was because they didn't think he represented the serious face of regional news.
