Yes. Before the birth of hora junior I thought 'this is the last time to get drunk' then after the birth I thought 'this will help me sleep'.

Its not pissed every night just consistent with NO breaks. None.

So since Sunday I've had no alcohol and today I am having bonking-like symptoms for the past 5 hours.

Is this a withdrawal symptom?!! I used to have a really fast metabolism but it really slowed down during the constant booze.

You don't need to be told that isn't good, do you?

Probably some form of withdrawal symptom by the sound of it, yes.

Well done. ๐Ÿ™‚

I've always been thankful for 2 things about myself:-
I'm not attracted to large or regular amounts of booze.
Gambling confuses me.

Low blood sugar is my guess, there is a lot of sugar in alcohol and your body is getting a lot less than it's used to, recovering alcoholics are often told to suck high sugar sweets to help.

Keep at it.

I've not really drunk since xmas, no wine of an evening or beer watching football and feel great. Lost a load of weight while still having the same diet.

Just get out of the habit

Re- The metabolism thing - It didn't slow down, you were just drinking more calories that offset any gain. Plus maybe you got lethargic and couldn't be arsed ro ride

Pook I am allowing myself two pints of weak Ale on Sat. You can't go totally cold-turkey!

Then two (small) glasses of red Sunday.

Bonking like symptoms? Don't get that but tis probably just withdrawal, used to drink a lot during the week then binge weekends, stopped a while ago, for about two weeks I felt like I was still waking up with hangovers but once got past that felt great. Then started drinking again. Ah well, I'm not 30 yet so I'll mend when I get old I reckon

Where are you riding Sat binners? I'll either be a ball of riding fury or my usual worn out self.

Before anyone questions 'is he thick'.

Yes I slipped into alcoholism without realising it.

Since my littleun was born I drink much less. When the opportunity is there and we have a babysitter then Ii will unleash, but otherwise trying to drink wine while your playing barbies with the littlelegs just feels too wrong.

Any weird withdrawal things must be in your head.

Don't stop drinking, start doing something else instead. Im sure we've had this conversation before.

Get into some boxsets. hit the gym. visit geek friends that dont drink. whatever. Just keep yourself busy until a load of time has passes and its not a problem anymore.

PS. I have a babysitter tonight and had a 3 pint lunch, and will be straight back down the pub at 5. Last time I drank was 5am Sunday, but it was my stag do. Normally get through weeks without thinking about it.

Hora, move over the water to Ireland. With the prices here you'll stop quickly (a can of lager/stout/cider at Tesco circa 2 Euro, Bells maybe 30 a bottle) ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm serious in what I say though, set yourself some goals that require a large amount of time to train for, family needs time, get hobbies/boxsets that you enjoy and need the time for and before you know it you are too busy to be drinking.

It's as hard as you make it

If you looked like me binners you'd buy a 6foot tall mirror, some double-cream, you'd strip and rub yourself silly ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

What time(s) were you thinking?

You're just a bellend hora, the booze was masking it and the withdrawal is the awakening self realisation.

Either that or bingo is pissing on your face while you're asleep

No booze last night either and I didn't miss it. I want to have a drink tonight but only if I'm in the mood for it.

Arse, I need a new poison. Anyone have any resin to sell?

Hora,

I know the feeling but Ive not taken the plunge yet. I have downloaded some hypnothepary stuff on to my ipod and they maybe worth a try. I could post it down on a disk to you?

Hypnotherapy ? Never tried it, and probably only works if you believe in that kind of thing, but a pal of mine reckons it helped loads with giving up smoking and dealing with the cravings.

Ta but no. When I quit smoking I just stopped. It was hard and there were dark days when I wanted to murder smokers but I pulled through ๐Ÿ™‚

How long have you been off the cigarettes now?

Today is my 6 month anniversary and I am feeling quite chuffed with myself.

Stopping anything that has an addictive edge to it is difficult, but console yourself that you are doing well.

I have resigned myself to the fact that I need to do at least one addictive thing out of smoking, drinking or taking other things. I am now just down to drinking and I am happy with my lot.

It's so cruel yet so funny. ๐Ÿ˜†

Are we allowed to laugh at that? I think we are, no?
