A New Hope

Must have seen it a dozen times at the flicks, DVD/video & just watched it on the telly again.

Never realised until now quite how camp the whole thing is.
The Stormtroopers on the Deathstar run around like Barbara Windsor trying to escape from the evil clutches of Hattie Jacques and Han's voice sounds like he's been at the helium balloons, and not just when he's pretending to be someone else.

Have to say it's added considerably to my enjoyment of the whole thing.

You raving Queens.

I am afraid you have misunderstood. It's the straightest film ever made.

There's a hairy chap who groans suggestively though the whole thing when he's not being Han's beard - and you think the stormies are camp?

Don't even start on the extremely well spoken C3PO. More bling than a drag queen and a voice to match. And he's a big girls blouse!

With any other beloved fanboy series, everyone gets upset when the original creator or director leaves. With Star Wars, we had a national day of celebration.

Are you watching one of the (many) later editions where they've added a sound effect for it?

Ralph McQuarrie. I had never heard of him before I saw these pics, they blew me away!

The realisation of his work is quite impressive, isn't it. I like that Lucas recognises the guys influence, too.

Apparently Carrie Fisher was told she couldn't wear any support because 'there are no bras in space'.

I sense it too.

I see what you did there....

The other plus side of the recent legacy is that it can't possibly disappoint.
