[#2753167]

So I have now completed a few triathlons sprint distance, and I'm comfortable with the distance, now I want to start improving my times. I've been looking for an improving sprint distance training programme but the internet is a complete mine field! Can any one guide me to a sprint programme? I guess I mainly need to concentrate on the run so interval training but what distances etc? But wanted a programme maybe that I could try and follow. I've found loads for Olympic distances and for beginner sprint distances but not the middle ground. Thanks.

Munque-chick... I think you live close to me. Are you a member of a club around here? Thanks.

TSY whereabouts are you then? Not a member of a club, it's too much of a nightmare doing shift work to attend anything regularly, so I end up doing my own thing at random times of the day.

I used to do just one speed session, which seemed to work for me, which was 8x2minutes flat out, with 1 minute rest. Not really a 'programme' but I guess it depends where you're coming from.

Ahhh... I was going to suggest Abingdon & Vale Tri Club.

A few of them train at the gym I go to. They seem to have well thought out training routines and a wide range of ability. They have group training sessions but seem to have individual plans tailored to when they can each train.

When I sort out my running I'm considering taking up Tri / joining them.

If a club isn't the thing for you though... RST (of iDave fame) have sorted me out with a great interval training routine.

Do you have to pay for that thought? WHo are RST? Triathlons are great fun as I find they keep variety in yoru training rather than getting bogged down with one sport and if you're entering sprints you can jsut make it up as you go along, but now I want to try and beat my times and get swim time down etc.

Not sure about the club and payment. You may well have to pay RST... it's how iDave makes a living when he's not teaching us all how to be skinny 🙂

Do it dobo they are great fun and certainly addictive, you won't have any problems with getting round, it's just getting a time you're happy with. Last weekend I wanted under 1hr 30mins, did 1hr 29mins 58 sec and that was without watch so had NO IDEA how I was getting on. I'll take a look at that programme thanks.

Munque Chick have you looked at

Fetch Everyone

It's run by runner's world, they have a Tri section, and there's loads of folk there who are really helpful about training and discussions and whatever.
