So, the votes as cast were:

Mark Cavendish 169,152 (49.47%)
Darren Clarke 42,188 (12.34%)
Mo Farah 29,780 (8.71%)
Luke Donald 23,854 (6.98%)
Andy Murray 18,754 (5.48%)
Andrew Strauss 17,994 (5.26%)
Alastair Cook 13,038 (3.81%)
Rory McIlroy 11,915 (3.48%)
Dai Greene 9,022 (2.64%)
Amir Khan 6,262 (1.83%)

Obviously, the actual votes cast are above but, sitting on the loo just now (I paint pictures with words), I was wondering what the fewest number of total votes required would be to acheive the same percentages of total vote per nominee.

I reckon 10000, by assuming each .01% above as a single vote and adding them all up.

Am I wrong, can it be done with fewer votes in total?

You could probably do it with 9999, but I really CBA working it out - it's a spreadsheet problem.

Yep, to be accurate to exactly 2 decimal places would need precisely 10000 votes split accordingly

(Or am I wrong too?)

If you did it with 9999, Cav would technically have 49.4749%, not 49.47 ... depends how pedantic you want to be* ๐Ÿ™‚

(*and some STWers can be pretty pedantic)

I suggest you check what his actual % is based on the real votes cast...

He got the same votes as the other nine put together, nice! Even he's not used to that margin of victory.
