So, the washing machine decided to sacrifice itself to the gods so that Andy Murray won on Sunday, so I am now in the market for an new washing machine.

Family of 4, generates a fair bit of washing, existing machine was poor so anything new will be / seem better.

max budget up to 5-600. What would you get? I've seen something like this:

5 yr warranty and free tab. Any thoughts?

Looks a lot of technology to go wrong, to me(*). There's half a dozen Bosch machines on that site, they're well regarded I believe (and Meile is out of your budget).

(* - and the washing machine.)

Spend half that and get a large (9-11kg) Indesit. Ours works a treat and copes with lots of dirty stuff including horse stuff.

I'll add another data point for reasonably-priced machines:
£400 Zanussi lasted 8 years and one house move
£600 Bosch lasted 5 years
Current Zanussi was £229 and is in year 4; has had £15 door lock, fitted in 2 minutes by me.

My 15-year-old Bosch WM expired at Easter and I replaced it with this
(W/D—I was fed up having wet washing hanging round the house all winter)
The drum's huge (did all the duvets over the w/e) but it's fine for small loads too—and the latest electricity bill wasn't too scary
