It's not the permission - the main camera roll just isn't there.
Hang on,
Facebook can't access your pictures, and people are complaining? I'm amazed CountZero hasn't been along yet to tell us it's a great new security feature.
There's no pleasing some folk. (-:
I can see my photos from facebook, camera roll and all the sync'd albums. In fact the interface is better with iOS8. I would say it doesn;t seem to be able to see the whole iCloud stream (all 1000 photos) but perhaps I am not looking in the right place.
Instagram can see everything I think.
The first time I used these apps they asked for permission to use the camera

He's just reducing the word count of his original draft.
I believe he's currently got it down to a 4000 word paragraph. 8)
Thats the issue - I can "see" my camera roll - BUT only those in there since the upgrade.
What I can't see is the 4k that were there BEFORE the upgrade. There is no way of getting to them.
Wow 😯
You guys.. chiiiiiiilllllll out.
All my Photies are right where they should be..
😛

Have you used the drop down menu to select another folder than "Camera Roll"?
Yes Drac - all my other albums are there but in "camera roll" there are only the most recent
That's the issue - the apps can't "see" the part where ALL pics are
Ah so it doesn't work how you want it to. Sorry I thought you meant you couldn't access your photos at all other than a few in the new folder.
The update from 0.0 to 0.1 is going well for me. According to the phone I'm not connected to the internet.

Not how I want it to - it doesn't work how it did before the bloody update.
Before had camera roll, photostream, etc
Now I'm lost.
Now I'm lost.
I thought they had improved Apple Maps?
Not how I want it to be. They changed it I don't like change.
In IOS7 FB messenger had access to all the albums.
Now in IOS8 while it can "see" all the albums, in "camera roll" ONLY the most recent pics are there and there is no way of getting to the rest in the camera roll.
So 4128 pics in my photos, 235 in most recent, 8 other albums.
FB messenger can only see the 235 most recent and the other albums.
The main pics folder simply does not exist
Can you remove them and re-add them perhaps, then they're "new"?
The main pics folder simply does not exist
you can still see all 4000 photos by clicking on Photos (not Albums) and then scrolling through them all. I'm sat here looking at 2500 photos on iOS8.
In messenger footflaps? I'm not on about in ios8 itself - I'm on about from within an app.
Cougar - why the **** should I have to remove 4k of pics and then put them back?
If it was one app is put it down to them - it's now 8 apps that can't access that part of the camera roll.
Because Apple have put "all photos" behind the main camera roll the apps can't see them - only the front end which is "recent added".
I don't have an issue with having "recently added" but why the **** can't they leave camera roll as ALL of the pics on there?
The moment an app wants to look at camera roll all it sees is recently added
Ok tested messenger.
I can see all my photos by well accessing the drop down menu.
It was hidden under the new way messenger works, it'll show you the most recent on the left there's a set of squares press that it opens up your photo album and then access the drop down menu.
Seems to a problem with iPhone to chair interface.
Drac - still only shows the most recent in "camera roll"

Bloody iChair.
Drac - still only shows the most recent in "camera roll"
Yes that's changed but what you do have is access to all your photos which you claimed you don't.
Cougar - why the **** should I have to remove 4k of pics and then put them back?
Because it doesn't work. Obviously.
Anyway, quite why you need FB access to four thousand photos you took a while ago, I don't know. Surely you're only uploading what you had for dinner today rather than last week?

That doesn't work for me either Drac.
If I go into the normal "Photos" app I can see hit "Albums" icon then I only see photos that have been explicitly put into an album, plus the "Recently Added", "Videos" and "Recently Deleted" auto-albums.
There are only a few photos in each of these.
That is what you see in FB Messenger (except it presents "Recently Added" as "Camera Roll")
Bit if I hit the "Photos" icon in the "Photos" app then I see the couple of thousand photos I really have on the phone presented as "Moments and Collections" - all of these used to appear in "Camera Roll", which is no longer there.
Anyway, quite why you need FB access to four thousand photos you took a while ago, I don't know.
Perhaps I have an amusing retort image that I like to post when people say silly things.
Guess I'll have to create an Amusing Retorts album and put them all in there.
Looks like you're already missing opportunities (-:
To be honest, I was more curious as to whether it would work rather than suggesting it as a serious solution. Cos, y'know, Android. But I'd assume (rightly or wrongly) that it'd be trivial to copy some data off and then back on again.
Ffs! There isn't access to all of my pics from within the apps.
Messenger,Photobucket, Dropbox, etc - not one can see camera roll as anything other than the most recently added.

Still never had the issue myself but you'll be happy.
http://www.macrumors.com/2014/09/25/apple-releases-ios-8-0-2/
Updated my 4S to 8.0.2 and I can confirm it didn't explode and I can now see ALL my photos in Messenger etc. 😀
Same here - should've been that way to start with though....
I've done the latest update and can only see '2014' photos in collections, other years have gone.
So apart from losing photos, bendy iPhone 6s, this virus that's supposed to be affecting Apple devices, is anyone else having problems with Airplay to Apple tv since the upgrade? I am. Have several Apple iPads, iPhones and Apple TVs (mug, I know, but I was convinced they "just worked" until the iOS8 debacle). I've sequentially updated devices to iOS8.02 and ALL the ones on iOS 8.02 won't mirror to Apple TV and periodically dropping WiFi. Even when putting an iOS 7 & 8 side by side on the table.
Shambles really. I'm sure all phones bend and viruses must affect all computers (despite Pinocchio in Apple shop telling me Apple were immune to it, the rascal), but going from a perfectly workable tablet to one which doesn't do what it should after an update is shambolic really, especially when you pay dearly for it on the grounds it's "better" and "just works". Oh, and shared calender appts repeatedly send notifications and messages don't send as iMessage, only "send as text" on one device since the update (although this, strangely only on one phone). A trip to the Apple shop, I guess.
If you're on iOS8.02 and have Apple TV, have a go at mirroring via Airplay. I can't be the only one. Then again....
@Tinners I will try the mirroring later and report back. Virus only affects very few Apple users who have made specific changes to their machines, "super power UNIX users" if you like
@hammy - yes I posted not the other thread that iOS8.0.2 fixed the problem you had, personally I didn't have it on all apps but it did affect some when I looked into it further. All fixed now.
Not noticed the mirror issue myself I've not tried since 8.02 though. As Jambalaya says the virus is a tiny few users who added other software to their systems.
Other bendy phones are available Apple gets a lot of press especially if there's a little issue, the media and haters jump straight on them.
@Tiners - mirroring seemed to be ok (4S and 8.0.2) tried youtube vimeo airplay and full mirroring of the iphone. One longer video (transition bikes 🙂 ) dropped out but 8 think it was a vimeo issue.
Thanks for taking the time to check that out, Jambalaya. Much appreciated. I've also updated the software on Apple TV and not sure whether that's a factor as well (however it remains a problem only on my 8.02 devices). I've just checked out Apple forum and it seems like this is a problem affecting others too, but no solution from Apple yet (ironically, I can't paste a link because using iPad - that may be my lack of knowledge though - but if you search "Apple Airplay not working" it pops up on Google). I notice that those in the know delay updating their machines and I'll have to remember to delay any updates in future. I caught a bit of their CEO's presentation of iOS8 to whoops of delight from an adoring audience on the news when it came out - the reality for me and others makes a mockery of that, sadly. I'm sure that other manufacturers get similar problems, but what annoys me is that Apple give the impression (to me) that they're above all that - and charge a premium for it - so I feel less tolerant when they screw up. Have been happy until now though, I have to say. Ah, well.....more important things in life.....time to go out for a ride. I'm sure they'll get it right eventually and issue a fix.
There are often problems of some sort with the new iOS releases and some peope do delay a few weeks before upgrading. Personally I tend to upgrade straightaway.
I have an ATV issue with my youtube account which it says is not accessible from ATV, it works fine on the phone and airplay so this needs some investigation. I prefer Vimeo and I wish the Peaty series was published to there too
bendy iPhone 6s
Who'd a thunk that applying a substantial downward force, onto a several mm thin bit of aluminium, would cause it to bend.
Without reading all the other posts - has anyone else had trouble with game volume?
Before the update to iOS8 you could open a game - set its volume low using the volume controls on the side of the phone without affecting the ringer volume.
Now when I open a game the volume is up full, so I turn it down. But then when the app is closed the ringer volume stays at the same low setting. App volume and ringer volume used to be separate.
Ta!
