Wonโt appeal to the masses on here Iโm sure but always loved the intro to this
There ainโt a consensus on any music stuff, you knaa!
Exactamundo. Post what you want preferably within the threads criteria but not always. It's not a court of law, just a forum and some music based back and forth. A bit of clever subversion usually goes down well!
Can I just say I love threads like this.

No need for anything fancy just copy the stuff in the header into a post and it should work
Absolute classic with the now Mrs Vanian on bass.

Surprised this hasnโt come up yet
Not surprised that this hasnโt, but it should have done because it came into my head as soon as I saw the thread title and itโs one of my favourite album openers of all time. No messing around

Pretty tight bass here
Any tracks from Future Islands.
Just gonna leave this here...
What no Psycho Killer?
Iโm reading โPerfecting Sound Foreverโ and in the section on production and producers, apparently the producer of Talking Heads โ77โ wasnโt at all happy with the way Tina Weymouth played bass, so without telling the band he got outside players in, had them play the bass lines on four tracks, and because of the limited number of tracks available on the master tape, and the fact there was only one available for David Byrne to do his vocal on, mixed the new bass tracks in, deleting Tinaโs bass, leaving the one empty track for the vocals. Didnโt say which four tracks those were, though, and sadly they can never be retrieved.
Only just seen this thread, and can't be going through all 5 pages so apologies if it's been mentioned already.
And this one must have already shown up but it's worth repeating.
It's all about the groove
@slowoldman - thanks for the Emmylou track, Iโve seen her a number of times, including on the Wrecking Ball tour, and with Spyboy, and Iโve seen Daniel Lanois touring โAcadiaโ, so Iโve seen that song performed by both of them, great bass playing, a great singer, and a terrific tune!
This song by Stereolab
Severe lack of motorik bass-heavy shizz on this thread (except for Hawkwind, noice!) Moar bass! Moar motorik!
