I was ready to get flamed for the Taken by Trees version of Sweet child of mine. Preparing for the backlash.
In for a penny in for a pound I really like Matt Cardles versions of You got the love and Roberta Flack's First time ever I saw your face; I love the originals too.

Lady gaga, the metal version

nice!

presuming that you can cover yourself, how's about this? (note that OP only said better and not good (though it's a close run thing).)

[personal opinion] hang on, i'm no great fan of the zutons, but their valerie pisses all over mark ronson's [personal opinion]

Cash's version of Hurt. Not taking anything away from reznor/NIN, but this is great

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this:

this is pretty good too:

in fact pretty much any of Bob Dylan's material that has been covered by other people... great songwriter, dreadful singer

The Pet Shop Boys covered "You Were Always On My Mind," which was an improvement on the original, in so far as their cover was merely dreadful rather than actively making my spleen want to crawl out of my mouth and throttle me just to make it stop.

It's hard to believe that anyone could improve on a Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby song, but Spooky & Sue did with their funky version of Swinging on a Star.

My mate was playing the proper version of this when driving home from uni with a female student friend, to which she replied I can't believe someone has covered this already, all saints only wrote it a few months ago!
He duly pulled over and made her catch the bus!

Ok, i know the thread was for "improved" but i just like these for an alternative take on things...

The Meads Of Asphodel's alternative version of Wonderful World, complete with reworked lyrics...

Dawn of The Replicants doing Rhinestone Cowboy, pub singalong style.

Dead Kennedy's Viva Las Vegas, class!

Alice Donut covering War Pigs, they replaced Ozzy with a couple of trombones.

The Soundtrack Of Our Lives take on Nick Drake's Fly. Gorgeous.

You see, if that's actually true, it's that kind of sad, pretentious music muppet who makes me glad that All Saints did Under the Bridge. It's only music no matter how seriously you try to take [s]yourself[/s] it. 🙄
