Friends - The Beatles , the Wet Wet Wet version doesn't do it though.

As with many of the above it's a funeral song , a really good mate who was killed in a motorbike accident when I was 17. He was just about the only person I've ever met in my life that had no enemies ,the crematorium had a crowd stood outside as there wasn't room inside for everybody.

A lot of Richard Thompson stuff bring a tear to my eye...'How Will I Ever be Simple Again' being one.

However 'Sunset' when played by the Royal Marines gets me every single time I hear it.

Daddy Sang Bass - Johnny Cash. Reminds me of my fantastic late grandparents.
Paradise - Richard Ashcroft. Makes me think about the birth of my daughter.
Going to get some stick for this one but... Unknown Caller by U2. The line in there saying "Shout for joy - if you get the chance!" I always think of my miracle twin boys - who shouldn't be here, but for whom each day is a chance for happiness...

I'm not blubbing for anyone but Two Little Boys it has to be. I was about 4 when it came out and anyone who had a brother at that time, the song was written just for them.
Also God Save The Queen , Advance Australia Fair and Waltzing Matilda. Waltzing Matilda is a strong contender at my funeral. A whole new thread waiting to be done.

Green Spandex by Xavier Rudd:

A Sorta Fairytale by Tori Amos, particularly because I first listened to it on the day of the funeral of my brother's partner:

Currently the unprintable ****ed Up, with One More Night. There's just something about a furious 300 lb man bellowing a love song that's strangely irresistable. Maybe it's because it takes some effort to decipher the lyrics.

Johnny Cash - Hurt, for reasons I can't talk about on here.

Guns N Roses - Patience.

Tracy Chapman - Baby Can I Hold You.

Extreme - More Than Words.

Black Sabbath - Changes.

To name a few.

A lot has been going on in my life of late, but all is good now

Cavalleria Rusticana,Intermezzo by Mascagne, played at mother in laws funeral. Didn't even really like her. For the unwashed among you it's in Raging Bull.
Singletrackmind, lovely bit of Puccini.

I was sort of half joking with 2 little boys earlier (though it sure is bit of a spine tingled at times) but thinking about it Rolf seems to have bit of a tallent with emotional songs. I first saw this one Christmas eve round my man's house when I was a kid. She sadly died late last year and this thread popping up and seeing her house go on the market today made me remeber this song.

Dam you Rolf you nearly got me this time!

The old boy croaked just after Rolf shuts the door at the end in the film!

Billy Bragg - Tank Park Salute:

Kiss me goodnight and say my prayers
Leave the light on at the top of the stairs
Tell me the names of the stars up in the sky
A tree taps on the window pane
That feeling smothers me again
Daddy is it true that we all have to die

At the top of the stairs
Is darkness

I closed my eyes and when I looked
Your name was in the memorial book
and what had become of all the things we planned
I accepted the commiserations
Of all your friends and your relations
But there's some things I still don't understand

You were so tall
How could you fall?

Some photographs of a summer's day
A little boy's lifetime away
Is all I've left of everything we've done
Like a pale moon in a sunny sky
Death gazes down as I pass by
To remind me that I'm but my father's son

I offer up to you
This tribute
I offer up to you
This tank park salute
...............

Thankfully I still have my father, but I think this is a constant reminder that, that won`t always be the case

Not a huge Elton fan but like others it more of a time machine back to a particular place in their lives. For me it takes me back to a point where I was in a place well out of my depth but having the absolute time of my life. I was completely exhausted and being driven home while my translator was trying to make sense of this song that was playing in the car. It's like way the smell of something can bring back memories. Brilliant

Usually manage more than one tear to this one.

Also this one but I think you have to be Scottish and homesick
