A bloke just said "bummer" on radio4.
Everyone else in the studio s****ed.
that must have been after i got to work
Bummer on radio 4 is much more shocking than the Moyles rant
It's comical when that happens on R4.
Was he a hippy or a homophobe?
It was on a program about really hard sums.
'In our time' is currently talking about complex/imaginary numbers. ๐ฏ
No he's not a homophobe [as far as we know].
He used in the context of a number not panning out after 20 pages of long division..
Bummer man .
It's a "word" not unlike many others. I like listening to radio 4 because quite often they use "words". Which I think is better than not using "words" since radio programming would be quite poor then.
Sally Traffic said the word "knackered" in relation to the M60 last night. I laughed for a split second and then the realisation she was talking about my drive home dawned on me...

So, by definition, it would be equally acceptable for them to say (for example like)...
The tw*ting weather today is expected to be c*nting well f*cking amazing, so suck on my c*ck, sp*nkface.
Well I would listen more ๐
OH had some sports coverage or other on the TV a week or two back (Tour of Britain? Perhaps). In the middle of the afternoon on a mainstream channel, they played a sound-bite of Hudson from Aliens going "game over man, game over!" - followed by the other half of that clip, "... what the f--k are we going to do now?!"
I love radio four. Some very high quality programs on it.
Favourite recent moment however was when it nearly imploded in on itself, when someone said 'Sambo' live on air. Even worse than that it was a <whispers> coloured gentleman that said it.
Actually it was Michael Holding being interviewed on TMS about growing up in Jamaica where the Little Black Sambo books led to him being given that nickname, because in his own words he spent all his time outdoors and consequently was darker skinned than most of his friends. But you could sense unease in the room.......
Radio 4 often swears, some of the afternoon plays have some foul language in them but I always assume they consider their audience to be adults and take things in context.
And then I prove them wrong by s****ing when some mathematician says bummer to Melvyn Bragg. ho ho.
I can remember hearing someone on the Ned Sherrin show on Saturday morning ask 'Why did Ronald Reagan get cancer?' and the answer came 'because he deserved it.' I laughed like a drain.
