I should add that I mean the film. That's not my dad's pet name for his cock. At least I assume not - can't say I've actually asked.

I think Mum and Dad were peace lovin hippies celebrating Nixon announcing that another 40000 troops would be withdrawn from Vietnam. Either that or celebrating Equatorial Guinea's independence from Spain.

I handn't thought of that, turns out pretty boring then as nowt interesting was going in in early/mid October 1985 and mums birthday was a month later.

Ahh well, at least I was (possibly) planned.

My parents had a day out to the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr. Apparently the didn't realise they would need contraception for a walk round a country garden.

"Don't Stand So Close to Me" and "This lady is not for turning" -

Fortunately neither of these were being embraced by my mum.

Mike Hawthorn, Mexborough's first and last Formula 1 World Champion was killed. My Dad was a works rally driver at that time as well but strangely I was named after one of the casualties of the Munich Air Disaster who had spent several days in a coma, nobody in my immediate family has any interest in football ๐Ÿ˜•

All I could come up with is this
The third and final launch of the USA's expendable launch system Scout X-2M ends in a failure to reach orbit.

Pretty similar to my conception, no doubt.

Nine months before I was born Hewlett Packard released the classic HP-35 electronic pocket calculator. (You needed big pockets though. And not just because it cost $400.)

But my parents were probably still drunkenly celebrating New Year.

9 months before I was born - after 4 years of trying, IVF, etc. my folks were going through the final stages of adoption. My mum swears the stress of trying to conceive prevented her, once they'd given up trying and the stress was removed, stuff happened.

It would have been early August 1968, doesn't tie in with any specific event other than the Soviet Union invading CZ, so it looks like I was the result of a recreational shag.

Apparantly British and French troops were being withdrawn from Suez and a certain (Dr) John Bodkin Adams was arrested for the murder of a patient having been suspected of killing more than 160 of his patients over the previous 10 years. I doubt if either of these events had anything to do with my conception though...
