I was wanting to contact a local to ask about it.

What would an inhabitant of that village be known as?

Rather like the sense of humour failures that are witnessed in these days of PC etiquette excess.

Even before the pun, the assumption it'll be offensive to a gnat is made. And wallop, that's us in a doggy poo bag and hung up in a tree, with the other nasty turds.

Good lord. I'd always assumed druidh meant druid, but I'm bored as sin so thought I'd double check.

Says here druidh means "Charmer, Enchanter".

Lols at iain1775

Spokes - that's charmer, enchanter as in magician or wizard, so not so far from your assumption.

Really? How disappointing. I had this image of you having had a few whiskies, wearing a pointy wizard's hat and wobbling up to some unfortunate lady saying "You can be my lovely assistant".

Actually, please don't click this link as it'll promote the bad things in this world - it's a link to the Olsen Twins site. And they're a proper pair of misguided, badly brought up ****s aren't they.

Hmm. I posted a response with a sweary word and it hasn't even appeared - either the mods are quicker than the speed of teh interwebs, or a system has been put in place which automatically pulls posts with the word ****

Have I taken one for the team? Out with the Germaloids...

OH! It came back 😀
