Guy in India was actually quite good and I'm not a fanboi (Harrythespider being at one end and me sort of midway the other).

For those that are moaning/wanting a 'proper' car show on BBC. There is one, it's on BBC Alba. I hope you enjoy it*
(*hopefully once watched you'll realise why Top Gear moved away from this format)

Moving away from the original premis is fine.
A car show with an injection of comedy yes great idea (the comedy isn't that great but give them a break it's a car show really )
Now it's slowly turned into an automotive themed comedy show, again no problem with that but in this case it does actually have to be funny which it isn't really.

Yes enjoyed Guys programme too, it took the edge off TG

The trouble is, TG is now too big to be a special interest show. If it went back to being another show for car bores it would lose most of its' viewers and be worth as much as fifth gear (not a bloody lot!). It's the most successful show the BEEB have ever had. That's why Clarkson gets away with being a dick sometimes.

Loved the look on JCs face with the 'part' flying around just a few inch's from his face!

Well on Episode 2 and I've laughed a lot, Kiefer Sutherland was funny and not really plugging anything, the Oz stuff was fun and I'd really like to race out of one of those small mines.

I enjoyed last night's show. Yes it was contrived and scripted but at least it was fairly original and funny unlike episode 1 which was contrived, scripted, unoriginal and unfunny.

Anyone want to tell me why the 'vette has a normal manual gearbox but flappy paddles?

You hoping they start rolling out Octavias every week? Admittedly I just went looking for the fast forward button as soon as Ollie Murs appeared

I thought it was fine until they obviously ran out of money for the 2nd half of the show

Cost cutting I imagine.

From some of the driving threads on here, I'd say the reference material for the type of driver was stw...

The car I lusted after most in the programme was the 504 estate. My dad had a diesel one, it's probably still running out in Africa as a taxi.

I had a 505 estate way back when we had the S2 Landy, bloody car was excellent for carting hay and neddy tack up and down SHropshires hills.

I too imagine the darn things still going.

As for the show, bit Meh, that Ferrari was quite sexy, I'm in Town all next week so I'll pop over the Knightsbridge/Mayfair/Notting Hill to see what the Arabs think.

😛

Just didn't get that Peugeot thing at the end, not at all sure what they were trying to say.

I think they're beginning to run out of ideas. Last weeks was much better.

McLaren v Ferrari being scared their cars might not be up to the job was enlightening

Peugeot used to make cars for people who like driving. Now they make cars for people who don't give two shits about cars or driving, and they are quite good at it.

Think how the Saracen of old, became the Saracen of halfords...

Back in 94 I had a 306 tdi, best fun I had with a car, great handling and a pokey wee thing. Memories eh. Wouldn't go near peugeot these days.

We had a 505 GTI Estate in 1986...
D364MUA...
Still remember it now.

Didn't quite get all the Peugeot bashing, thought they where gonna bring out an awesome new concept car made by them at the end..
Alas, no.

Yep that Peugeot thing went on a bit. Did anyone else think the the wing mirrors on the Ferrari looked weird?

They stuck out a long way, albeit on very thin bits of carbon. Still odd though - usually you'd just expect much smaller mirrors.

I thought it was great, I love the i8 (or was that the week before?), thought the Peugeot thing was very amusing. It's on form this series IMO.

They've got to clear the rear arches. It's a pretty wide car with a small passenger compartment. Apparently.

hmm, McLaren have tweeted "The track filming was due to take place this week but was cancelled by @BBC_TopGear ahead of last night’s show."

No, agree 100% that reeked of desperation for content. I must say I enjoyed the show up until the half way point, when Olly murs came on. Luckily I had recorded it and was able to skip through the rest.

At first I thought the Peugeot bit was going somewhere and that they were about to test the new 205 equivalent which they seem to be bigging up in the ads but no, it was just an excuse to crash into each other, hold up traffic and alienate people who listen to Radio 2. Pretty childish (though the French meeting bit was fairly amusing on it's own).

Otherwise a pretty good show.

I'm in two minds about the peugeot bit - It did seem very desperate for content but I loved the fact it all was filmed within 10 miles of my village. The double roundabout was the same one where I stalled in front of Jeremy during a driving lesson (and kept stalling for about 2 minutes), the section where james went straight ahead at the corner was the same one my school bus crashed on (on ice) and the "road" where he had the fire was a connecting bit on one of my local mtb routes 😀

They weren't trying to alienate radio 2 listeners. Various radio two shows are on the show regularly in a positive light. They were picking on the racists and bigots who phone the Jeremy Vine show. Who are fair game.

And, fwiw, I thought that the bit about Peugeot was the most factual piece on the show in a while.

Couldn't agree more. Considering the magazines (including Top Gear) have all ran stories of Peugeot and return to the Dakar

[img] [/img]

also each one of them has given a glowing review of their new GTI and how it looks like Peugeot are back on form

[img] [/img]

It was a pretty desperate way to waste 20 minutes
