.....can anyone recommend a wide-brimmed one that doesn't make be look like a cock?
I'm off to a festival for the weekend and the forecast is wet. I've found a wide-brimmed hat to be an ideal solution for keeping the rain from my head and shoulders, but the one I've got is v cheap and irritates my head (the lining is practically made out of sandpaper)

I'd probably just wear my Barmah hat. OH doesnt like it but I don't care. Mainly gets used in horrible weather when dog walking as it's much better than a hood at keeping hard rain out of your face.
Tilly hats are great but not really more than shower proof (I have one)
I also have Barbour baseball style caps which are great, they do wider brimmed ones too and these will take a lot of abuse and are pretty waterproof
I believe Dry-as-a-bone do wide brimmed hats too
Various fedora types look great but are not waterproof in fact don't like to get too wet at all
