as in Hot or Cold Food smokers, cooking with smoke, rather than the charred hell that is UK BarBeQueing...
anyone built their own, I've an old pie warming oven and a small toaster/broiler/grill thing, I'm thinking of combining the two to make an electric, temperature adjustable, timer controlled smoker.
Has anyone done similar?
Nearly spat my tea out at the title. Has a different meaning in Scotland. 😯

In Scotland it means Bearded Clam.

You're doing it wrong...
You want to get a Kettle style BBQ (sir, may I suggest Webber) and grill indirectly, with the lid on.
Completely different BBQ experience to the 'typical' bangers and burgers.
You can produce stunning roast joints, with a bit of smoke if you want (soaked woodchips on the coals).
I generally roast on a med heat indirect for a few hours, then spread the coals out for the last 30 min, and cook over them to sizzle skins/fats.
Mmmmmm lovely!
DrP
I have asked mrs gordimhor about this and she says that if you have a smoking fud you're definitely doing it wrong. Also she warned against attaching a fud (smoking or otherwise) )to a toaster
Yodagoat built a cracking Smoker for around £5 and strangely he is also a massive Fud....
I've been on a couple of cracking Fudfests. Next one is in July.
smoking fud = smoked sausage
make sure you clean your bong out properly afterwards
I want to go to a fudfest. Email me the details.
