It’s what they do.

I’ve got the feeling they’re now going to go on to win the whole thing, just to be really really bloody annoying

I know I hate the Germans. Just in a football kind of hatred though.

You’ll have probably guessed I’m not a football fan, but I’ve been watching most of the games since the start and that game was the most frantic and fast paced and nerve wracking as I’ve ever seen.

Fit boys aren’t they.

Blimey, they need a week of and a few beers I’d imagine.

Good result though IMO, even though I wanted Sweden to win .. Germany were relentless and committed.

Is it really that different to the England goal in their first game! But what a cracker. Even my German wife had a smile (which doesn't happen very often 🙂 )

^^ 😂. Mine too!

Ten seconds before the he hit the free kick I said to my GF that there was a goal coming.

Should have put some money on it...!

Favourites to go through now anyhow, even if Sweden beat Mexico (doubt they will)it's a goal difference shootout, and you'd expect the Germans to take a few off Korea.

I had a great line about Germany not doing very well in Russia....

Then I also had one about set pieces as they wasted so many too,

morning all, we all ready for the main event?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44439183

BBC reckons Sterling will start, which I could probably get if they want to give him one last chance to get into the goals for England, Rashford on late would hopefully let them cut through a tiring Panama.

Rumours of a weaker Belgium for the last game keep coming up too

I think they should play a front three of Rashford, Kane and Sterling. so play a 3-4-3. Play three proper centerbacks, Maguire, Cahil and Stones. In midfield Henderson holding, Cheek bridging to the front three, the midfield wide men would be the difficult question, they wouldn't have to get forward as much due to Rashford and Stones playing wide, but would need help out centrally, so I would probably go with Delph on the left and Trippier on the right.

For me the big difference will be Cheek for Ali, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon scapegoating sterling, but the whole team looked worse in the first match after Ali got injured, and didn't look better until he was replaced.

If we beat Panama, maybe we should give some other players run outs too, hard balance as to whether you keep a winning formula going for momentum, or keep the squad fresh. What is the score with yellow cards being carried into the next stages as well?

Oh look a goal! Still think this England team will be torn a new arsehole by Belgium or any other half decent team.

BBQ’s have started down here, though I think it’s more to do with it being a lovely sunny day than a football game.

If g’urland scrape a 0-0 draw I guess that’s a “win” innit ?

I’m looking forward to Jpn vs Sen, so off for a run and back in time for sushi 🍣

Yes in this game, but Belgium also looked sloppy at the back, some of always seems to be you bring your game for the opposition, I'd expect it to be another level against Belgium and 2 Euro teams will be a very different style

He is having a good game, always hustling around making options for the player on the ball, watch the 30 seconds before Lingards goal, he makes the goal by his constant movement creating spaces.

That he did but I do think he is in to get over the line and wake up his confidence, the subs will be itching to get in amongst this, Going to be very few first choice players for Panama in their last game

I normally have sympathy for the smaller teams, underdog & all that, but frankly Panama deserve to be humiliated. Appalling behaviour from them.

They are behaving the same as Tunisia did in the first game, but the refs in this second round of matches are wise to it.

Just gone to put a bet on at least one red card in the second half and the bookies aren’t taking bets on that. They’re not daft! 😂

But he is playing well, his movement and link play has been good. I'll take a lack of goals if he enables the better finishers (like John Stones;-) to finish.

I know it's a weak group, but I think that expectations have been so low this year that it's takes the pressure off them.

Also has this been done ?
