It's a glitch that's affecting full members too. I'm getting it. While I wait for tech support to come online I've found it's only affecting Chrome for me. Things are better in Safari.

The solution is to buy an android device from Samsung. No problems here 😎

Douse the laptop in petrol and set on fire...stops the videos

FWIW I've had no issues with Chrome on either Android or Windows.

When the site went down on me last night, 😳😉🤣, nothing was happening at all, the refresh line shot across the top of the screen and all I had was a blank white screen. I tried all my different browsers, same result, also rebooted, and just gave up. Tried a bit later, and all was spiffy again then.

It's a total pain in the arse.

I actually cancelled my subscption and then re-enabled it, and now I'm getting a god forsaken cookie banner all the time.

Cookies options popping up with every page change, still happening this morning.Doesn't matter whether you select options or use recommended cookies.

Firefox update applied but made no difference, logged in or not.

FFS, I might have to go out on my bike!

No need to get hysterical now!

Still working fine for me. Chrome on Android. As a luddite, no fancy settings or installations.

@burko73 - go to your account preferences and there is an option to disable the videos from playing. It isn't activated by default, so until you activate it, the videos play like you describe.

Not always the case. I have the videos disabled as you describe, however, the FGF video still managed to appear. Not the first time and its very rare and I certainly don't seem to have the issues other folks do. I do like the sound of dousing laptops in petrol and setting alight...maybe just the work one though 😁

Ditto!

All browsers - all options.

There used to be a mantra when web design first kicked off - make your site as accessible as possible. No flash screens, no click here to enter etc. When did that get kicked from the website design manual? Now it's click, click, click, click, click, click, accept this, prove you're not a ruddy robot and one more bloody click just to get to what you want to see! 🤯🤯

Still glitching for me too this morning. Sorry about this. It’s very annoying I realise. I’m chasing up ezoic support again now.

It's reaching the stage where I'm starting to avoid the site, adverts popping up constantly. I just replied on another thread and it looks like the advert has stopped me typing mid message.

Can someone inform 32Red that I really hate Keith Lemmon and the only reason they're getting a 100% clickthrough rate is because it's a really irritating advert and the 'x' is really small?

I've cracked and installed a 'better' browser on my phone. It's not a problem anymore.

Can I just add that the site has been running perfectly well for myself, safari 11.7.10, no issues whatsoever.

only because you have a deep-seated, irrational, anti-fruit bias 😂 You will learn, in time 😉

I'm guessing it's because Apple have loads of privacy/anti-malware options enabled by default now, but I'm not seeing any of this crap, works perfectly on desktop and mobile.

Whole forum has become unusable, so many pop-ups and ads to click view just to view posts. Subscribed for a long time to help with cost of forum mostly, but it has put me right off and have cancelled subscription.

I wonder if this current problem is caused by one rogue ad which we're not all being served. That might explain why some of us aren't having any issues.

Not at all. Just a) it's not for me and b) Safari is notoriously problematic with STW. Or if you prefer, b) STW is notoriously problematic with Safari.

I'm pretty sure it was only ever the logging-out thing, which was fixed ages ago. Other than that it's always been fine. Definitely "b" though 😂

There’s probably a guddle of things stuck down the back of a server?

I do feel for the techs, it's not going very well today so far!

There's nothing worse, in IT, than being responsible for a server which is currently offline....

Many moons ago in a random China Province in the middle of the night in a service outage window I typed "shutdown -h now" to shutdown my laptop before going back to bed. My laptop didn't shutdown and that dreadful realisation that I'd shutdown a random China Mobile server in a random building in a random City at 2am.

We eventually located the building, found someone who knew where the caretaker lived, got him out of bed at 3am, went back to the building with a bunch of keys, searched 30 something floors to find the server and restarted it....

That wasn't much fun...

Back in "the day," PCs were AT format. One of the features of the form factor was that the power switch actually switched the live & neutral mains supply. Click-on, click off like a ballpoint pen, not like the 'soft' power buttons of today which sends it off into some software-driven hibernate state or whatever.

I was working on a server, had to restart it. Clicked in the power button and almost immediately realised, I'd pressed the button on the wrong server. You know that feeling where suddenly your face goes all hot and prickly? So I'm sat there, my finger holding in the mains switch to the primary (in the 1990s, probably only) email server for the entire company. Ffffffuuuu... Now what?

I released the button and immediately jammed it back down again. There was enough residual current in the power supply to keep it up through a momentary blackout. I got away with it.
