Getting into a bed with fresh linen on

That's the thing!

EDIT:

Melted cheese

Another good call. Needs crispy bread though which could make it not so 'simple', but luckily can go into the oven with cheese, so I'll allow it.

the first morning after mid winter when the sun gets up before you do (usually followed by a sudden panic that maybe that means you've slept through your alarm)

the cold side of the pillow

getting a duvet into it a freshly laundered cover and getting yourself into bed, under the duvet, in one move

I really like new socks. Once a year I replace all of my socks with new ones. Just going though this at the moment so it's three weeks of new socks every day. It's sooooo decadent ๐Ÿ™‚

Hmmm, do like bread, and butter, yet on the scale of simple pleasures then getting jiggy with someone who wordlessly, intuitively and rapidly fits yr jig has to rank highly ๐Ÿ™‚

Also the smell during and after rain on a long spring evening cycle run. And the smell of chilli on the stove. Oh. Could go on all day.

Seeing the sun rise.

First cold beer/cider/water/fruit juice after a hard summer ride.

First pencil strokes on a fresh piece of paper.

(actually totally innocent but none of you will believe that) An unexpected cuddle from behind.

'Kisses' from the dog when you walk into the house.

Poached egg yolk bursting over a simple salad.

Socks warmed on a radiator before being put on.

Finding a cool patch of bed for your feet.

WD40

Bacon and egg roll, runny egg.

Walking to bed on a sunny morning whilst passing all the miserable gits on their way to work ๐Ÿ˜€

The warmth of a small bunny tongue behind the ears and the accompanying snuffle when your ears get inspected too.

Sneaking in a gear change over a small rise, and going that little faster than you thought you would into the next downhill.

Wife is no simple pleasure, so that's out. While living for long periods in remote places the only thing I missed was cheese on toast and a cuppa from a tea pot, pref with a crossword. First thing I have when returning home.

After being away from home doing restaurant eating 4 nights a week for months that was always one of the "What I'll do when I get home" things.

Years ago in France I had a disco biscuit, a surf, a cycle and a **** all in one day, in that order. Simple but blissfully deliriously happy. From nature I love the smell of Autumn in the woods.

Dusty trails in dappled sunlight.

The feeling of a completing your 'to-do' list with time left to do something you actually want to do before you have to be responsible again.

When my son (5 yrs old) says "Dad, it's sunny and muddy at the same time, can we shred the gnarr today?" (although i feel guilty allowing him to think it's normal to talk like that).
