Not all that fast really, but quite practical and as mentioned earlier, not actually that expensive to run

the guy who posted one earlier said it costs a fortune! What model is that sunday jumper?

I have a boxter s and the bits aren't expensive, but the labour to do anything costs a fortune given where the engine is. Obviously don't go anywhere near the main dealers!

Love the old VWs.

In that case (although all of these are gone now)......

Some lovely examples here. Here's my present more bangernomics example....

I don't own it any more, but a few years ago I built this:

That is super-cool. Had a few E36 M3s in my time and love that engine. Someone did the same to an E92 which I love the idea of.

Am I allowed to play?

I had one of these for the total sum of 17 weeks until an angry builder in a forklift truck took a dislike to it.

[img] [/img]

I have currently a "sports hairdressers" car bought new after the M3 debacle, not posting pics of that for fear of being outed..

fastest car i've driven is a ferrari 360 modena spider that one of my friends used to own...he also had an RS4 avant which is the second quickest i've driven....but quite possibly the scariest car i've ever driven
i dont have that sort of money to buy something as flash or quick as that so the fastest car i've owned has to be the 2001 Audi A6 2.5dti quattro sport that i used to have

another one of my friends also loves his fats cars...he started off with a porsche boxster, then a few astons, then a ferrari f430 which he sold last year...he's now on his second McLaren.

i'll upload a photo as soon as Photobucket stops being a douchebag

Not fast at the moment, facebook reminded me the other day that it's been up on bricks for 2 years after I ran out of £££ mid suspension rebuild 🙁

[img] [/img]

Plan to get it back on the road vaguely standard (it's currently just a bit lower, lighter and stiffer than it left the factory), then maybe plan something sillier with it (frontline front wishbones, big brakes, ford sigma engine and gearbox).

"the guy who posted one earlier said it costs a fortune! What model is that sunday jumper?"

Mine's an early 996 Carrera, with the Aerokit. All 911s need a massive spoiler IMO ! Maybe I've been lucky but in 5½ years I've had no major bills. A gradually failing fuel pump relay is the only thing that's ever left me stranded, which was only a £10 part - once I'd diagnosed it. I had a coil pack fail but they're regarded as consumables, they're low down and open to dirt & water from the road. An oil breather and a vacuum solenoid, and that's about it apart from some tyres & routine servicing. Even the servicing isn't too bad. The last couple of MOTs have highlighted some dampness on the bottom of the bellhousing which points to the RMS leaking slightly but my Tuna says not to bother doing anything until it's actually dripping, or it needs a new clutch and we're opening it up anyway.

Touch wood - it's been a very good car.

Squealer's car is a 997, a lot newer than mine, but if it's an early 997 then it's largely the same mechanically.

FWIW, my Tuna is Northway in Aldermaston, I'm happy to recommend them if anyone in Berkshire needs a Porsche specialist.

Can't get to image hosting sites from my work computer, but I sold our E90 330 last year which was a shame because I loved that car. By modern standards, it wasn't that quick but it made a lovely noise at the redline. The six pot was a peach.

I'm thinking that when my vRS company car is handed back in 18months I'll opt out any buy a 135/140 because the company car tax makes the vRS very expensive.

Have spent some time in my uncles E90 M3 which I've taken a real shine to - the DCT box is awesome.

One has a 380bhp 3 litre supercharged V6 that enables one to waft to a limited 155mph and though 60mph in 5.1 seconds whilst surrounded by sumptuous leather and Radio 2, and crucially consumes petrol rather than that dirty devilish diesel.

But I seem to forget my wallet a lot.

My earlier googling revealed a 340i touring at my local dealer, can anyone lend me £30k?

not mine but I get to play in these occasionally

my step Dad's Porsche 911 GT2, fernsport tuned monster. tuned to north of 700hp...

doesn't go round corners very well and his Caterham CSR is quicker round a lap of Spa.

Not proper fast, but it's what you'll drive at Silverstone. Needs another 67HP really (only has 133), and it sits on the drive and takes my race bike to Sunday road races (can fit a bike in with just front wheel removed!) Fun when you get it above 4500 RPM, and Top Gear liked it a lot!

Mrs TiRed is down for a RenaultSport track day to finish off the tyres. Teen1 is too expensive to insure on it 😆

Looks like some birds pooped on the cone at the drivers door, think of the mess it would have made to that paintwork..

The 996 is a bit easier, with small hands you can do lots, and the engine drops out like an old beetle.

Most of the costs are the overpriced dealers and specialists, and most Porsche owners want their cars to be 100% minty mc mint so shell out for everything.

The fastest car I've owned wasn't that quick by the standards of many here, but it was quite quick enough for daily road use, sadly I don't have a photo available but it was my 1.7 Puma Zetec, lovely little car around the twisty local A-and-B roads, and sounded great when you wrang it's neck!
Sadly not mine, but certainly the quickest car I've ever driven, and certainly the best sounding, was this:

[IMG] [/IMG]

Maybe, if the lottery coughs up, I could afford to run one!
One went past me today on the M5 - that engine sound! #swoon

Wife's car. 60 in 5.3 secs and limited to 155mph. After driving around in a 150bhp Tiguan diesel, her quattro, s tronic, light aluminium build car certainly wakes me up. Not sure any more performance is needed on uk roads

Had a Porsche 944 S2, replaced it with a Panda 100hp.
Entirely different cars, both immensely fun through the corners and surprised a lot of supposedly fast cars that have underestimated something old/small.
