We're in a hell of a muddle post referendum with two parties in meltdown and no clear way forward post vote, yet parliament is going on summer recess in three weeks. Assuming that no clear plan is determined in the next few weeks (and given that no one wants to take a firm stance that seems inevitable), I can't help thinking recess should be cancelled. The one thing that will damage our economy in the short term is continuing uncertainty yet mp's are planning on 6 weeks of holiday.
Is it just me that thinks recess should be cancelled?
It'll be 4 years until this is sorted. No rush.
Theres nothing tabled for a parliament to vote or act upon. Parties being turmoil is an issue for those parties not an issue for parliament.
They could always vote on rejecting the referendum result.
Maybe they could concentrate on holding their respective leadership elections instead of buggering off to Tuscany for 3 weeks + the obligatory weekend in Cornwall.

Nope. As above nothing much is going to happen until the Tories elect a new leader, certainly nothing that requires a Parliamentary vote. I'd expect a lot of noise and sound bytes from the Commission meeting (in a week ?) when Cameron speaks

@Northwind, more and more I think he has just worked out he lost...
At the moment the country has no real leadership, there should be at the very least a joint party statement on this. A timietabling of Con party leadership and the appointment of an interim group of cross party (leave) MP's putting together a base time table for options on leave.
In things like this we have a few things going on (typical big company thinking)
One school of thought is to go as fast as you can down the 1 way street just in case somebody want to turn you round. YOu have got too far so have to carry on.
Next is not making decisions, you need to know what needs answering and in what timescale, not answering is an answer just not a very good one. If we need to do something now or in 2 months to enable us to have a stronger position in 2 years we need to know about it.
If there is a point where people are thinking they can get the numbers and vote down A50 legislation and force a GE you want to know about it and have a plan. At the very least you would be looking for the current parliament to endorse the referendum result and give the power to invoke A50 to the PM.
Probably for the best, 3 weeks of nothing, let the markets blow off steam, get everyone back to thinking about work, family etc, we are still in the EU at the moment, nothing will change for at least 2 years anyway if it changes at all.
Nothing has been achieved by acting in a panic, let the dust settle and then see what the mess is and go from there.
So Boris is saying nothing changes apart from not being subject to European court decisions and not paying the EU any money. That's not likely to happen Boris.
Jesus christ - let's not give them MORE opportunity to f*** things up. More time they spend on "holiday" the better.
