[Closed] Should Amber Rudd resign

Amber Rudd lied to a select committee. Weird to make an equivalence there tbh

(OK, it's just about possible that Rudd didn't lie, and that instead, she just doesn't read the reports she's supposed to or listen to what anyone else says in meetings, or instantly forgets everything. But that's not a great defence)

Still hanging on by the looks of it...but the last round of leaks undermining her position.

IMHO dead man walking.

That’s what I thought of Theresa May after the snap election debacle. I wonder if no one else wants to be Home Secretary either?

you could be right.

Effectively they were deporting the aging parents of kids I went to school with 30 years ago 🙁

I'm not excusing her but many of the senior managers where I work don't read emails. Even after you resend them as requested to get it to the top of the inbox. She's probably equally as self-important and shares their delusions of adequacy.

I bumped into her at Peterborough services last year, or rather the silly bat walked into me as she veered towards the entrance without looking where she was going. I was very surprised that she didn't have security with her given her position. If that's how slack she is then no wonder this fiasco has surfaced. I wonder how many other things are being hushed up whilst the media get into a froth over this ****up

Well, that's their problem. And if something happens on their watch that they had been alerted to but failed to take action on, then that would also be their fault.

I have not been following this story - but is the only issue that she lied? or that there were targets to send back illegal immigrants??

Surely it must be a mistake or oversight; because what is wrong with sending back people to their country of origin, or last place of safety, if they entered the UK illegally?

But the Windrush gen and their descendants aren't illegal immigrants.

Which is the whole point.

It was a conscious decision to attempt to deport people who have as much right to be here as you or I.

Just like the conscious decision to withdraw benefits from people with disabilities.

Not a mistake. Not an oversight. Not 'just one of those things'.

A deliberate decision to target people who could not prove their legitimacy, because their records had been deliberately destroyed, by the very people who are now demanding proof of residency.

Nothing at all to do with illegal immigrants, just another attack on those least able to defend themselves.

What a time to be alive.

Rudd also lied, or deliberately misinformed, Parliament which is very, very naughty but as they all seem to be self serving dishonest fectards, it's not surprising

Legally , have these people been kidnapped?

This situation is absolutely unforgiveable.

Arrests should be made.

Bookies favourite to replace her is Gove.

Careful what you wish for.

Remainer swapped for rabid, expert hating, Brexiteering gobshite. Oh well could be worse - the Moggster might get a look in at this rate.

Wonder who is doing all the leaking?

It's a bit like shift work. Anything that comes to light on your shift is your responsibility. It doesn't matter what the last shift did, it's all yours.

Of course she should resign - she is either lying to parliament or incomp0etent.  there is no other explanation

Like father, like daughter.

I'd like to ask her about the human skull I found in the stable block of her old home, soon after her family moved out.

The defenders are laying it on thick now, can't be expected to read everything, too busy, tiny details etc. The level of trust is so high that demands for this to be legally backed seem like a sensible idea especially given the potential shelf life of those making the promises.

Careful what you wish for.

This is what scares me about the whole thing.

There's various news stories doing the rounds suggesting that David Davis is close to resigning, that May's under threat from her own party, that Rudd should be sacked or resign (personally I think she should be set on fire and the flames beaten out with Jeremy Hunt, but that's just me), and some other leading brexiter whose name I can't remember is at risk too.  In isolation, all of things make me rejoice.

However, I rejoiced when Cameron walked away.  Until his replacement turned out the way she did.  Who've we got waiting in the wings?  The likes of BoJo and Rees-Mogg (the esteemed Minister for the Nineteenth Century).

Who’ve we got waiting in the wings?

You named him before: the minister for people whose middle name should be Michael I.e. Hunt

@ElShalimo, MartinHutch:

Amber's father, Tony Rudd, was a rich stockbroker who owned Chalcot House near Westbury, Wiltshire, as his country pile. When he was disgraced for dodgy dealings (there were allegedly plenty he wasn't nicked for) he sold the property.  I think that was in the early 90s.

Mrs M's family lives very nearby, but not in a mansion. When the place was empty Mrs M & I had a nosey around the outside & outbuildings.  In one of the stables, there was a human skull on a shelf, brown from age but otherwise in good condition. I've no idea what happened to it - Mrs M wouldn't let me nick it. She also remembers them going to the local church, taking the front pews as a right  of wealth, wiith Amber there in pigtails.

Just don't tell JiveHoneyJive - he thinks he has enough lizard-evidence against Rudd as it is. 🙂

It probably belonged to some below-stairs type, probably foreign, so no great shakes. 🙂

Oh dear Someone ‘May’  not be happy on Monday.

https://www.scribd.com/document/377702336/Letter-from-Amber-Rudd-to-Theresa-May

I think that’ll be the end of her(for a while, but don’t forget old disgraced Liam)

I get the worry about the next one being worse but tbh that excuse is exactly what keeps useless xxxxxx like her in a job.

sneaky edit as insult had another meaning and that would be derogatory to use it on a pos like her

The Tories really are doing an excellent job of shoveling each other in shit!

I expect a flurry of Corbyn hates Jewish people stories to hit the papers b4 next week's local elections

Human shield for the PM gone, who is going to defend her now?

Another reshuffle due then, another crisis and the PM has less friends than before.
