[Closed] Shipping / sea state forecasts ?
Where does one look specifically for wind and swells in the black sea off the coast of chernomorskoye - ukraine
Spent yesterday on a bathtub in horrific swell to no end result and dont wish to repeat it ! Googled and found nothing useful - any sea farers on here ?
Any idea welcomed !
Cheers

Mate - Use the Met Office
Talk to a forecaster at - http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/services/talkfc
£19 - specificvally tell the call centre bloke you are on a boat and you'll get a marine forecaster used to dealing with yachties/oil and gas industry/commercial shipping - make sure you have your position - whether it's a lat/long or a 15km South of Yalta sort of thing - you'd be amazed how many yachties have no idea where they are...or maybe you wouldn't
Work it out from the weather forecast. Looks like only winds from the south have a decent fetch to generate a reasonable swell. It's not rocket science.
ooh terry, if you call the met office you might get a *ahem* friend of mine! she does commercial forecasting etc...
Is this any good to you http://forecast.uoa.gr/wamindx.php Various tabs to display wave hight etc down the left.
Asked my better half to have a quick search in Slovak too to see if she can come up with anything better (popular holiday destination for them) but her general thought was it is just a big lake not a sea so don't hold your breath! 😉

fluid dynamics is considerably more complex than rocket phsyics
Rusty - black sea, not adriatic.
This is why it's lumpy...
You can select the Black Sea as the area you want info on though just below the one for Adriatic.
There is also this one http://forecast.uoa.gr/gmap/ and for jam bo's benifit if you drag and drop the pin across to the black sea you get the info for there too 😉
Ah yeah. Didn't spot that bit.
i survived - just

and thankfully on tuesday it was flat calm too for my return from the rig - or id have been on suicide watch..... what a shit hole - give me west africa any day !
