As we all know, this week has for many been the week of trying different booze.

Although I didn’t try any new cocktail or liqueur or fandangoberry wotnot Id did receive a Welsh Single Malt (Penderyn Sherrywood) and a large bottle of Brewdog Hazy Jane.

Now I’m a proper old git from the Midlands Western Regions and as such a real ale sort of beer fan (bitter, Golden Ale, green hopped ales mostly cask) and revile the word ‘craft’ even more than the rare necessity of drinking bottled beers. As such I’ve never visited much by way of Brewdog or any of those type of things. So I didn’t expect much from Hazy Jane.

By crikey, I was so wrong. New favourite bottled beer by a mile.

The jury on Penderyn is still out. It has depth and layers of flavours, I just need to try again. I’m no expert. Happy New One, all. Here goes. Nefoedd wen…

MrsMC treated me to the Brewdog advent calendar, and I'm a bit behind on it. Not had a bad one yet - except the Parma Violet obscenity - though some better than others. Quite enjoyed the fruity ones.

Proper Swedish Akvavit is my new favourite non-Islay spirit.

And, Hazy Jane is one of the better Brewdogs IMO.

Brewdog Elvis Juice is grapefruit flavoured but not overpowering.

The alcohol free stuff is adequate which is high praise indeed for AF beer. In fact, Brewdog Nanny State has become the default drink since my liver got broken. AF Hazy is okay if a little sour and the new AF Elvis juice tastes a bit like a fizzy pop but better than I feared.

Found a couple of kegs of wheat beer I brewed about a year ago. Split the batch and put different fruit juices in them. Seems I wasn't on top of my sanitation on one because it was infected with lactobacillus and was very sour. Turns out sour weisse beer is pretty good!

I'm with you on the Penderyn thing.
I really dislike it despite trying to like it.
Also from the same area as you but very open to all of these new fangled beers...

My surprise sozzle is a gin and prosecco cocktail.
There i've said it now and i don't even feel durty.😜
