Just thought I'd join the bandwagon...
It is depressing that broadly speaking when people are financially stretched and worried, they become more right-wing and bitter.
Seems to have been the pattern across Europe.
๐
Errr right... ๐
OK, why do you think right-wing parties have done well across Europe?
Or am I distracting from your hilarious parody thread?
Indeed. Centre-Left parties, parties that generally rely on support from those with Socialist ideals and who care about society as a whole, have done particularly badly.
I think perhaps it illustrates that many who consider themselves Socialist when they have a few quid in their own pocket soon change their tune when times are hard.
So people who support right of centre partys don't give a stuff about society as a whole?
was that a rhetorical question aracer?
Not if you believe everything spouted by certain 'left-wing' folk on here.
Is it worth noting that 'far-left' politics generally doesn't agree with the democratic system currently in place and therefore tends to not participate.
Some in the left argue that this then lets the 'far-right' prosper within this system, some others argue that the 'left' should put more effort into dismantling the system and re-building it in a fairer more representational way.
I think I can speak for the entire UK population, (legal and illegal), in blaming the French. It's all their fault and it always has been. End of/FIN

How about the Belgians?
Or the Swiss?
๐
Can anyone explain this thread to me in simple terms?
SB
It's OK I've worked it out now.
How about the Belgians?Or the Swiss?
All that chocolate is turning our women into fat heifers!
Slapper - WTF's happening ? ๐ฏ You start an anti-french thread and you don't mention your 'hilarious' and favourite jib, "the cheese-eating surrender monkeys" ? ! ! ! And you even mention 'jumping on a band wagon'..... ffs. Have you gone CRAZY ? ๐ฏ ๐ฏ
.
Citizen Smith - I fear that you are quite wrong. Unlike the Tooting Liberation Front, most far left parties do indeed participate in the bourgeois democratic process. The only certain exception that I can think of, is the New Communist Party, a stalinist breakaway from the old Communist Party. I'm not sure if they still maintain that position - they probably do. But the only reason they didn't participate in elections was that 'the correct marxist-lenist position' according to them, was to support the Labour Party in elections. They considered the Labour Party to be "the mass working class party". Whilst their definition of the Labour Party might well have been correct, their position was absurdly based on something which Lenin said 80 years ago.

My post 'I blame Grounds Keeper Willy' hinted at it!
