I personally can't stand TJ as he appears on this forum. 😐

Ernie, I have no doubt it was never intended to be light hearted, just a poke at TJ, like a banana in a tail pipe, but as Binners ran away, the yellow peril hit him on the back of the head as soon as TJ turned on the ignition. Thus it has most definitely left its mark!

That of a plonker.

Answer me this: would a forum exist without opinions?

I don't know.

Hey DezB, am I forgiven for being a b****** or shall I start trying to annoy you on here too??

Of course you're forgiven. Join in the bullying if you want though. I've signed up with a counsellor on Myspace

How'd I manage that then?

Are you pretending to be daft ?

Would you say to a schoolchild "it's impossible to be bullied at school, you just need to go home and the bullying will stop" ?

Not the best analogy ernie - no one has to be on here.

This is great! How many arguments can we have within a single thread anyway?
😆

Should this be the grumpiest thread ever? Group therapy?

It's a perfectly good analogy. DezB says it is "impossible" to get bullied on here because you can get out.

Obviously that's complete bollox.

I wonder if any of you are aware of how you appear to others in these multi page slagathons. Right, left, socialist, conservative or whatever, the constant bickering makes you all look very pathetic.

Sometimes I open a thread as the title intrests me and I have a personal view that I'd like to express (not this one, the euro one), and then I see the vitirol and name calling taking place and it immediatley quells any thoughts I had of a reasoned and interesting debate.

What ammuses me more, is that by the 2nd page of the argument you are all arguing about who is the most offensive. As an outsider of said argument, could I clear this up for you?

The answer is all of you. You do yourselves, singletrack and the mountain biking community no favours with these threads.

Good point Southern Yeti, either tears of joy, as half of the old guard slug it out without any idea how it started...

Or the temptation to brew a cuppa, settle down on the old sofa and unplug the forum whilst mutteing...well it seemed like a good idea at the time....

Why is everyone so het up about a reclining chair?

I hope my discussion about "cyber bullying" wasn't included in the bickering accusation.
I am serious about this - when that XC Racer bloke was on here (also Kaesae, to a certain extent) then I saw a lot of attemps at "cyber bullying" from forum members. I did think it was pathetic, but I really don't see that an adult can suffer in any way from so-called "bullying" on a "forum".
If they can, then, in the true spirit of STW, I'll admit I'm wrong and shut up.

Before you all get carried away, TJ is perfectly capable of looking after himself.

Bullying is a somewhat inappropriate term for someone who is perfectly capable of giving up the hectoring & haranguing with the best of them.

School is compulsory. STW is not. If you are bullied on STW it is entirely with your consent.

What does Binners have named after him?

I think you'll find that it's another TJ Win.

DezB, I suppose it rather depends upon the individual. Possibly, someone who is fragile could take offence to being apparently attacked, or perceive it to be an attack due to their state of mind, when the perpetrator was just trying to be funny on a forum.

If somebody felt the need to bully anyone, in any environment...because they're different or whatever...this is not the place, nor is any other any better.

Could a forum be used/abused in this way? Probably, as always..

It depends

The Binners: a bunch of fully grown adults, once avowed to making sure that at least part of their leisure time was spent in a manner slightly less boring than the rest. Your typical Binner male will achieve this by taking advantage of the UK's vast number of beautiful and mysterious sites that testify to Britain’s diverse history

There's an awful lot of twoddle talked on here (this thread is the prime example surely?). And I'm as guilty as anyone. But the trick is to realise is is precisely that - just a lot of twoddle.

The way some people react, you'd think their words had been carried down a mountain by a bloke in a dress with a beard, while choirs of angels sang in accompaniment

I don't really think there's bullying as such on here. Apart from Hora of course. And he bloody well deserves it. Though I have had someone off here pull a genuinely nasty stunt on me. That had a very real impact in the 'real' world. But then again, I only had myself to blame

Hope your all enjoying my website. Thanks for that Junkyard 🙂

So now, you want to start on the Christians again? You should have got it out of your system on the other thread. Honestly, anything for the sake of an argument!

No, I actually think Tree-Magnet has a very good point tbh. People can be put off by all the childish bickering and 'banter'. That some of us might think it's ok, doesn't mean it is.

I'm one of the main culprits. I admit it. I'm looking at ways to be more pleasant and universally acceptable. I think we all should.

TJ can bang on a bit, for sure, and there's times when he himself knows he should just back off, but then there's many times when he's making an intelligent, reasoned, well-thought out point of view, and people come along and just start throwing petty insults around, and attempt to belittle him, whilst not actually contributing anything worthwhile. Then they say TJ's the one with the problem....

I am guessing they just get fed up with his omni-presence (to some extent the same as you, me and many others).

I usually [s]agree[/s] with TJ but when I dont I can see why his style really annoys/grates other people. It is not a court and he does often miss the big picture to focus in on one single point ad naseum.

Apart from the agreeing bit +1000

Generally speaking TJ talks more sense than his detractors and refrains from personal abuse.

I disagree with some of his opinions, but at least he has thought them out and they are not mere prejudices.

Well thank you very much. I feel honoured and proud. A 100+ thread about me that I hardly had to contribute to. 😳

As usual there are 2 camps - the "its only the internet it doesn't matter" and the " don't post what you wouldn't say to their face" Its the conflict between the two schools of thought that gives rise to a lot of the agrro IMO.

I feel strongly that its important to attempt to remain civilised and that even tho it is the internet it does matter. I do find it amusing how many people feel they need to attack me - and as on the euro thread often for things I had not said. Its like they need a bogeyman to fight with and they have chose me. I suppose I should be flattered.

My lesson - that honestly I am trying to learn is as waderider says

TJ only has to mention Scotland to create a frenzy of vitriol.

Could this actually be racism?
