This is a great winter beer but it needs some time in the bottle to reach its best:

That Brakspear is marvellous stuff. Couldn't believe my luck when I found it on 3 for £4 in Asda.

Another vote for Jaipur - goes down a treat after a ride, smooth, refreshing anfd still gives you the mother of all hangovers the next day.....(actually, that may be age related....)

Breakspear Triple is ACE.

Blandford fly at the mo and then blonde leffe (special at Tesco's 😳 )

Mrs Julian really likes Poachers' Choice and Longdays at the moment. Oh, how I love her. 😀

I tried that oak aged Innes and Gunn from Edinburgh; it's very interesting, if a tad pricy. I've been enjoying the Leffe too and enjoy in the Munich beers when work takes me there. But my fav is a local ale: Blindman Mine Beer.

Variety is what makes beer so delightful

I've slagged Kent off in my time but by the gods there is some great beer here;

Green daemon has to be my favourite all time beer.

Just put some Greene King IPA in the freezer for a quick chill - and also found I have some Old Thumper in stock. Asda 3 for £4 strikes again!

My fave's are:-

Black Sheep Ale

Tim Taylors Landlord

Youngs Ordinary

Harveys Best

Hopback Summer Lightning

Rumnners Up - too many to name but most IPAs, best bitters and even the odd winter ale when the weather is appropriate. As a southerner I have to admit that Yorkshire makes the best beer. Sadly my home brewery (Badger) is really poor but other Southern brewers make up for it.

This thread is particularly painful as I am on the wagon this month.

Cheers.

I hasten to add that Steinlager Pure is not necessarily my preferred drop, but at the time of posting it was the only Beer in the house and has been since accompanied by several Krombacher Pils 660mls.

Steinlager Pure is the best of a bad bunch.

Last night i had:
Crouchers Pilsner - very nice, brewed in Rotorua
Emerson Bookbinder - classic, lovely on a warm evening
Tuatara Hefe - the king of wheat beers brewed with love and attention up the road.

I love NZ beers (now - they used to be utter utter p1sh). 😀

EDIT: and i hear you about the heat - it was 31.5 yest afternoon, i biked home and almost expired - humid as heck. Great rain dump last night and clear today.

hh45 - two of the finest beers on your list - Harveys Best and Timiothy Taylor's Landlord.

Harumphhhh - I love beer me but am on a dry month as it's January and also I have a medical at the end of the month. Hopefully all traces of alcohol will be gone by then......

Anybody else brew their own beer? I have to say that I tought it would be crap, but have been very imprseed by what our brewing kit turns out, it's better than 90% of the beer you'll find in pubs and costs from £8-£18 for just over 35 pints..... 😀 ..... hic...... 😉

Sadly my home brewery (Badger) is really poor

Swap you for McMullens of Hertford any day.

I like Badger beer, bottles and draught.

+1 Badger make some cracking beers. Although tanglefoot usually leads to some wreakage the next day!
Im rather partial to Long Days (the one with a hint of raspberry), ooh thats lovely!

Jaipur is top stuff - I'm sure you'd fall over pretty quickly on it.

I do like Purple Moose's Dark Side of the Moose.

Recommendation required please...

Now, I've always associated mild with the contents of the drip tray (not to mention old blokes in flat caps with whippets). The other night I found a bottle of Woodlands Mild at the back of the beer fridge in the garage. It did say best before 2009 but I drunk it anyway. I was surprised by how good it was, quite a nutty flavour - it went down a treat.

So, who else makes a good mild?

Bank's used to a good mild, as did Theakstons. Boddingtons Mild was nice when it was from Strangeways.
Rare to see mild on sale these days. Love it, but it does give me the shits.

cxi - Just about every microbrewery makes a mild these days, they can be either dark, or light.

Timmy Taylors make both and are quite nice:

http://www.timothytaylor.co.uk/OurProducts_GoldenBest.aspx

And:

http://www.timothytaylor.co.uk/OurProducts_DarkMild.aspx

Bank Top Dark Mild is a good one, more of a stout than a mild as it's not as weak as some. I prefer the dark ones.
