Had it done at the Northern General in Sheffield, had my foot done twice in Barnsley to get it right, foot looks worse than the shoulder.

5 months post surgery update, prompted by another shoulder injury thread.

Delighted with the surgery. Smashing round on the bike as if nothing ever happended getting stronger every time, only hurts if I happen to really jerk it - trying to wrench the bike out of a rut, spazzing a 180 endo or somehting like that. Or pulling on the bars on the SSCX. SS mtb easier with the wider flat bars.

just started up physio after a bit of a break - 1st lot was attached to surgeon, concerned with regaining basic motion, checking proper healing.

Physio I'm going to now is much more sports oriented, work is based on regaining last 5% of range of movement and regaining full strength at the extremes. Harder work, needs more effort than I'm putting in! I need to find a swimming pool too. Swimming would be great, did loads on a holiday ni Corsica at the end of last year and there was noticeable improvement in the week.

Still very confident indeed that surgery was the right option for me.

12 months update year since the surgery. Just come back from a week and a bit in Portugal. Back surfing for the 1st time since surgery, might even have been in the water at exactly surgery +1 year. Decent swell, got a few drubbings, and the shoulder was tweaked a little bit holding onto the board.

All good though, no regrets at all. ๐Ÿ˜€

Signed up to forum on the back of reading everyone's experiences. I had cycling accident a year ago and ended up with grade 5 dislocation. Went to physio for 4/5 months, had 100% movement but reduced strength (no press ups) and it gets tired after a while. I suppose because it's just the muscle supporting it. Ummed for ages whether to go for surgery especially as I've got 2 young children.

Went to my GP the other month about something else and he asked how my shoulder was. When I showed him he said it looked deranged! I think he nudged my referral along. Got my op on Wed this week for LARS ligament (but not with Prof Funk) . Nervous but excited about getting it sorted.

Good luck! It's worth it to be able to use your arm properly again.

I am nine weeks post op for a grade 4.

I had this surgery:

Fell of on the Monday had this done on the Thursday. I was told sooner it was done the better the outcome likely to be.

After 4 weeks I felt I could ride but was warned off. at 6 weeks i had about 95% mobility but a fair loss of strength.

Have a gentle 40 kilometres planned in the morning along some bike paths.

Just seen this thread at the top of my history again.

How are you getting on, xylar and uphillcursing?

Dogbone op looks pretty natty!ย  I went for the late-adopter Lockdown/Surgilig.ย  It's a long way from keyhole, but it's working.

I went to see another specialist for a 2nd opinion and to talk about the various procedures (he used a different method again), and he said that there are a few good options out there, all probably as good as each other overall, but the important thing is that the surgeon doing them is good, is good at doing that procedure, and has had plenty of experience and success with it.

My surgery was delayed due to emergency via A&E. All being well going in this Wednesday.

Interesting that there are so many different procedures available. Hopefully the LARS ligament will work well for me! Will post an update with how I get on.

8 weeks post op and shoulder feels pretty good. Movement is coming back with gentle physio. Only exercise is on zwift turbo which has been good fun. Looking forward to getting back onto the open road.

Xylar you sound in a similar place to me at the moment, I had my ac and cc ligaments done and clavicle plate 8 weeks ago...physio starting in couple of days after they somehow forgot my referral.

Fairly happy with my movement although improvement seems to have stalled a bit recently, I'm guessing I really need the physio now to move things on.

Turbo work is okay and I can put weight through it fine, they were reluctant to let me out on the bike due to feedback from rough roads possibly damaging the clavicle repair - the break was right at the ac end and they could only just squeeze in the two fixings. Basically don't break it again or there's nothing left to screw in to!
