Ms emmin might have inspired it (or there might have been a leak in the ceiling)

Clearly an impression of modern day Britain.

The work represents a family - 2 parents (same sex), 2 teenagers and a younger child who is "different". One of the teenagers has the afront to point out that little johnny is "different" and has been ostracized for airing his views . . . .

Are those ironic post-modern badly detailed walls and skirtings in a post-industrial referb?

Thanks, SST, couldn't put it better myself. Many years ago, when I was doing a day-release course at an art college in Bristol, there was a degree show put on. One student had accidentaly knocked over a can of paint, then had the bright idea of putting a little barrier around it and using it as part of their exhibit. I thought it was pretty neat, myself. That pic above, I wouldn't know if it was an exhibit or not, these days.
