[#6902999]

There was a documentary on the tellybox a number of years ago about how telecommunications systems were restored after the attack on the Twin Towers in New York.

I found it really interesting (my line of work) and was good to see common sense prevailing, such as 'sod it, hang the cables out of the window to get the job done' rather than silly H&S jobsworths getting in the way.

Does anyone know what it was called and if it's available to view anywhere?

Thanks

I spent 10 mins googling this last night, as I didn't want to see the hive mind defeated. Didn't get anywhere. ๐Ÿ™

It was broadcast on the 5th August 2002, so unless some kind soul uploaded the whole thing to Youtube, then you might struggle to get the complete doc.

The OU seems to be using those snippets you posted as course material, and may have been involved in making the doc, so maybe they can help find the whole thing?

I used to be a NOC Shift Manager and that brings back memories of having to react quite quickly to UK and World events to keep a network running. I had the joys of not only the switch team to look after but the data, access and core transmission network teams. It made for some interesting moments to say the least, I had to give it up in the end as I turned into a stress junkie, I thrived on it to the detriment of my character. I'm a lot calmer and hopefully healthier nowadays.
