Playhouse is back open in Alnwick

Baliffgate Museum not sure what the current exhibition is.

There’s a small climbing wall at Alnwick leisure centre.

Aln Valley railway not strictly indoors but it involves train rides so partial.

Bamburgh Castle

The Mill at Ford/Etal also has a small train

How far do you want to travel? As Drac said, there is plenty in Alnwick but it's a 20 - 30 minute drive.

Swimming pool at Seafield caravan park in Seahouses. Expensive for what it is.

Bamburgh Castle obviously.

On the way back from Alnwick and Barter books, try Chillingham Castle - an “eccentric” owner but some fascinating history, death pits, dungeons and of course the ghosts...

https://chillingham-castle.com/

Get wrapped up and head across to the isolation of Ross beach? Or St Cuthbert’s Cave near Belford?

**edit** I see Chillingham doesn’t open until April

involves train rides

That is stretching it a tad. The walk from the car park to the platform is possibly longer. They're also shut until April. 🙁
The narrow gauge line at heatherslaw (ford/etal) is a good shout.

There's also Howick Hall & Gardens, though their website is hardly inspirational for indoor activities: tea rooms, visitor centre? Can see why kids get in free.

Take wet weather gear and enjoy the rain?

We go to that area loads and accept that there are not too many indoor options for kids. We just wrap up and hit the beach, whatever the weather.

Warkworth Castle is well worthwhile, only partially indoors but lots of places for kids to explore
Ship Inn in Low Newton is definitely indoors and is one of the best pubs in the world. Not sure about the kids but I love it.

grtdkad - Ross Beach is a beaut, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne are beautiful bookends to it.

...and just up the road from the Ship Inn is the Joiners Arms. Great food and if the weather is kind a fab wander from Beadnell

The North Sea coast at this time of year is torture if the wind and rain is coming in from the East as it probably will be. Aberdeen all the way to Newcastle grey manky looking water some gulls enjoying themselves
